Web-Gis For Publishing Spatial Soil Erosion Model

by : Ahmad Munir and Paharuddin

This paper presents a WEB-GIS base computer model for publishing soil erosion model. The primary objective of this research is to develop a model for soil erosion prediction. The result of simulation is published in the WEB-GIS. The computer model consists of six sub models. The first sub model is DATABASE, it is used for managing data for the model. The second sub model is AKUISISI deals with data acquisition. The third sub model is RAMAL deals with forecasting simulation of erodibility and land cover factors. The sub model RAMAL employs a Neural Network Simulation (NNS) that can increase precision of the forecasting result. (more…)

Exploring Geographic Parameter Space With A Gis Implementation Of Cellular Automata

by: Vivienne Cole & Jochen Albrecht

Many of the recent studies of vegetation spread and the invasion of introduced species incorporate GIS and some form of dynamic modelling in one- or two-dimensional space. Most work, however, concentrates on presenting a predetermined model in an abstract computer simulation environment. The focus has been on the system’s ability to display the model (results), as opposed to its ability to develop or compose a model, acting as a creative tool in an applied situation. The research presented in this paper uses a GIS-based cellular automata (CA) framework to study and create an applied and ecologically significant model of spread for the invasive plant species Rhamnus alaternus. Developing State-enabled Applications With PHP

When a user is browsing through a website and is surfing from one web page to another, sometimes the website needs to remember the actions (e.g. choices) performed by the user. For example, in a website that sells DVDs, the user typically browses through a list of DVDs and selects individual DVDs for check out at the end of the shopping session. The website needs to remember which DVDs the user has selected because the selected items needs to be presented again to the user when the user checks out. In other words, the website needs to remember the State – i.e. the selected items – of the user’s browsing activities. (more…)
