On Tuesday (02/04/13) ago, Mr. Takao Fujimura, Ph.D., from the Department of Dermatology, Kitasato University, Kanagawa, Japan, came to Makassar. During his visit this time after his previously visit in 2011 ago, Mr. Takao Fujimura, Ph.D. will discuss about some cooperation and extension of previous cooperation to be agreed between Hasanuddin University and Kitasato University. Around 9 am in the morning, Mr. Takao Fujimura, Ph.D. met the Rector of Hasanuddin University, Prof. Dr. dr. IdrusPaturusi, SpBO along with Prof. Dr. Muh. Dali Amiruddin, dr., SpKK (K), FINS-DV and Vice Rector IV, Prof. Dr. Dwia Aries Tina NK, MA. Since that time, the cooperation between Kitasato University and Hasanuddin University will be developed into a broader scope, which previously inter-faculty, now are within the scope of inter-university, one of the cooperation between faculty of pharmaceutical and fisheries. Kitasato University School of Medicine and University of Hasanuddin has cooperated primarily in the postgraduate student exchange program since 2009. This agreement has been signed by both of the dean and is valid until 2014.

After visiting the Faculty of Medicine, Hasanuddin University, Mr. Takao Fujimura, Ph.D visit the Department of Dermatovenereology at the Medical Teaching Hospital Hasanuddin University and met the Head of the Department of Dermatovenereology,Hasanuddin University, dr. Alwi A. Mappiasse, Sp.KK, Ph.D, FINS-DV to discuss the extension of the cooperation agreement in terms of exchangeof dermatovenereologist and resident of dermatovenereology fromHasanuddin University to Kitasato University. Currently, the two sides agreed the student exchange to Kitasato University by 2 people over a period of two years to research and two months to learn about hair. The main end goal of this research collaboration is to manufacture leprosy vaccine, which until this time the leprosy case is still high in South Sulawesi. Now the export permit letter to export the leprosy patient serum samples still being proceeded and sent to the Research and Development Center in Jakarta for further action. With this letter, Hasanuddin University will be sent to the leprosy serum samples to Kitasato University in Japan to study and manufacture aleprosy vaccine.

The next day, Wednesday (04/03/13), Mr. Takao Fujimura, Ph.D with Prof. Dr.Muh. Dali Amiruddin, SpKK (K), dr., FINS-DV met the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Hasanuddin University, Prof. Dr.Irawan Yusuf, Ph.D to deliver the deal that has been agreed and signed by the Rector on the previous day. After that, Mr. Takao Fujimura, Ph.D, went to Fort Rotterdam, lunch at RM Bahari, then headed to the airport to return to Tokyo, Japan. Hopefully, the cooperation between the two universities from different countries will runs effectively and gave the optimal results, especially in the fields of health and science development.

Through the Faculty of Marine Science and Fisheries, Hasanuddin University is re-collaborating with Davis Campus University of California, United States of America by establishing Agreement of Cooperation. Prof. Dr. Dwia Aries Tina accompanied by Prof. Andi Niartiningsih welcomed the visit of Prof. Susan L. Williams of University of California Davis Campus. The cooperation agreement is to promote scientific activities, collaborative research, and international understanding of marine science.

There are fourteen points in the agreement related to environmental issues and collaboration between both universities. For example, the collaborative research on issues encountered by Spermonde islands in South Sulawesi, collaboration in academic and culture through exchange of students and lecturers, also exchanges of information on each other’s academic activities in the seminar and conference to support common interest.

“The cooperation is in waste management in archipelago, especially in relation to environmental management in Spermonde Islands. In addition, there is also exchange program for lecturers and students from undergraduate and doctoral degree,” said Prof. Andi Niartiningsih.

Hasanuddin University warmly welcomed the signing of Agreement of Cooperation between both parties, as Prof. Dwia Aries Tina – Vice Rector for Planning, Development, and Cooperation said: “We are pleased with the agreement, hopefully, the cooperation in the next four years can be implemented successfully”.

On February 21 to 24, 2013, professor of Hasanuddin University Makassar, Prof. Dr. Muh. Dali Amiruddin, dr. SpKK (K), FINS-DV attended and presented materials in oral form at the 13th International Congress of the Pan Arab League Conference in colaboration with The 9^thDermopolitan Jordan at the Dead sea / Jordan, which was held 4 days at the Dead Sea, in the building of King Hussein Bin Talal Convention Centre. The congress discussed various developments in skin therapies, such as laser, phototherapy, dermoskopi, electric surgery, radiofrequency, botox, and diseases such as acne, vitiligo, psoriasis, atopic dermatitis (eczema), and various hair disorders. The congress was attended by many skin specialists from various countries such as Saudi Arabia, Belgium, Kuwait, Canada, Germany, United States, United Kingdom, Sweden, Iraq, Ukraine, Lebanon, Egypt, Croatia, Libya, Czechoslovakia and Indonesia. From Indonesia was represented by two professors in the field of dermatology and venereology, Prof.. Dr. Dali Muhammad Amiruddin, drSpKK (K), FINS-DV from Hasanuddin University Makassar and Prof Dr. Harijono SentonoKaryo, dr. SpKK (K), FINS-DV from 11 Maret University in Solo.

In the congress, Prof. Muh. Dali presented  the effectiveness of virgin coconut oil in children with atopic dermatitis (eczema). From the research that he and his colleagues did, the virgin coconut oil was as effective as with petroleum jelly to the skin of children with eczema (allergic) whose skin often experience dryness.

While attending the congress, Prof. Dr. Muh. Dali Amiruddin, dr, Sp.KK(K), FINS-DV, professor of Hasanuddin University Dermatovenereology Department, Makassar, visited the University of Yarmouk accompanied by Indonesian embassy staff in Jordan, Mr. Fachruddin Hasan (Head of Information and Social Cultural Affairs), Mr. Teguh Wardoyo (Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia for the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and Palestine) and welcomed by the Vice Rector for Research and International Cooperation, Prof. Dr. Hanan Malkawi. From this meeting, some points of agreement were made: first, the two parties agreed to follow up the agreement between the two universities signed in September 2012 and, through a concrete form of cooperation between the Faculty of Medicine Hasanuddin University and the University of Yarmouk.,Faculty of Medicine of University of Yarmouk will be opened in the near future. He also noted that Yarmouk University previously had a Faculty of Medicine, but since 1986 the Faculty of Medicine and Faculty of Engineering split off and form its own university, the Jordan University for Science and Technology (JUST). The second point that  further cooperation is expected to be followed such as cooperation between the two universities through student exchange and the possibility of opening a sandwich program in the fields of medicine, faculty exchanges as forces external examiners in passing the final exam, faculty joint research  in various specialties of medicine, tele-health possible cooperation in the future by using video conference technology in academic activities, as well as lecturers exchange to attend a medical conference activities organized by each university. The two paries also plan to cooperate in a multicenter study in the fields of health sciences and genital skin, especially in the field of treatment of psoriasis because the black sand of dead sea is useful for treating psoriasis vulgaris and report the research each year.

Yarmouk University (Arabic: جامعةاليرموك, also abbreviated YU) is a public university in Irbid, northern Jordan. It was established by Royal Decree in June 1976. There are nine colleges in the universities that offer undergraduate and graduate degrees D3, among others: the Faculty of Arts was founded in 1976, includes nine academic departments, faculties of education, faculty of Engineering Hijjawi, faculty of science, faculty of fine arts, faculty of economics and administration, faculty of technology informatics and computer, and faculty of Islamic Shari'a, faculty of law, faculty of physical education, faculty of archeology and anthropology, and faculty of mass communication.

University of Al-Isra (جامعةالإسراء) is a private university in Amman, Jordan, was established in 1989, the first scholastic year begins in the fall of 1991. The University offers Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) degree in eight majors, and an undergraduate degree in Law, Pharmaceutical sciences, and management techniques. The university is accredited by the Jordanian Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and is consist of faculty of art, faculty of education, faculty of law, faculty of engineering, faculty of information technology, faculty of business, faculty of nursing and pharmacy.

Professor Numan Ahmad Elkhatib, Rector of Isra University, also invited the nursing students in Indonesia to sharpen and enhance their skills in Jordan for 1 year, made ​​up of 6 months to learn Arabic and 6 months studying nursing. To this effect has been reported to Mr. Hasanuddin University Rector, Prof. Dr. dr. IdrusPaturusi, Sp.B, Sp.BO and the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Hasanuddin, Prof. dr. Irawan Yusuf, Ph.D.

Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) signed by the Faculty of Marine Science and Fisheries, Hasanuddin University with its partner, the Faculty of Engineering, Health, Science and the Environment, Charles Darwin University (CDU) Australia has been develpoed in a joint degree following the event of Symposium Wallace-Darwin held in September 2012. The realization of joint degree will be effective next year by mobilization of undergraduate students of both institutions.

The delegation from Hasanuddin University was led by the Dean of the Faculty of Marine and Fisheries, Prof. Dr. Niartiningsih Syamsuddin. The member delegations: Dr. Dody Dharmawan Trijuno (lecturer, Faculty of Marine Science and Fisheries), Ms. Sri Heryati Minarni and Mr. Suparlan (Division of International Cooperation, Hasanuddin University) and Dr. Muhammad Nasir Badu (International Office, Hasanuddin University). The realization of MoA shows a high commitment of Hasanuddin University in collaborating with its foreign partner to realize the standard for World Class University. Pro-Vice Chancellor of Charles Darwin University, Prof. Sue Carthew and Head of School of Environment, Prof. Andrew Campbell who welcomed the delegation of Hasanuddin University expressed their agreement to the statement.

The delegation was also welcomed by Consulate of the Republic of Indonesia in Darwin. In the meeting, The Head of Indonesian Consulate, Mr. Ade Padmo Sarwono iterated that the MoA realization by the two institutions will strengthen the bilateral relations between Indonesia and Australia.
