On Monday, 9 April 2012, Dr. Suzanne Bellon, Senior Researcher from School of Health Research Darwin, Australia visited Hasanuddin University. She was welcomed by Prof. Dr. dr. H.M Alimin Maidin, MPH., Dean of Faculty of Public Heal th in Rector’s room. The purpose of her visit was to discuss about the possible collaboration in research. She also came to introduce herself as a researcher from School of Health in Darwin.

Ms. Naulitta, a staff at IEC from Chiba University office at University of Indonesia in Jakarta visited Hasanuddin University on Thursday, 29 March 2012 at 13.00 pm. She was welcomed by Dr. Etty Bazergan, Director of Internasional Office Hasanuddin University.

The purpose of her visit was to introduce herself and discuss the idea how Hasanuddin University could use the IEC office for future’s collaboration with Chiba University.

On Wednesday 21 March 2012, Ray Russell ESI Program Manager from Queensland University, Australia visited Hasanuddin University. She conducted seminar/workshop at the postgraduate peogram Hasanuddin University, to introduce various programs at Queensland University which may interest Hasanuddin University graduate students to do a course or two at Queensland University.

She also stopped by at the Internasional Office, Hasanuddin University to leave some brochures and explain some English language programs that Queensland University may offer to students of Hasanuddin University. It is hoped that the visit can develop the partnership between the two universities.

Hasanuddin University welcomed 5 lecturers from Southern Cross University Australia. They gave a public lecture in IPTEKS building on Thursday, 16 February 2012 from 09.00 to 14.00. Their presentation was moderated by Professor Mansyur Nasir, Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry Hasanuddin University. The presentation was delivered in English.

Each of the 5 lecturers gave lectures on different subjects such as: Professor Philip Hayward, Division of Research, acting Pro-Vice Chancellor of Research Southern Cross University lectured on Envisioning the Aquapelago – the integrated study of island societies and environments ; Professor Les Christidis, Director National Marine Science Centre lectured on DNA and Assessing Patterns of Terrestrial Biodiversity and Sustainable Aquaculture and Food Security. The third lecturer was Professor Rocque Reynolds, School of Law Souther Cross University was on Law Research at SCU, then Professor Michael Evans, School of Arts and Social Science was on Memory, placelessness and the Geoweb and exploring the role of locational social-networking in reimagining community. The last was from Dr. Amanda Reichelt-Brushett, School of Environmental Science and Management on Sources Fate and Consequences of Trace Metals in Marine Environments.

This public lectures were attended by 200 students and lecturers from Hasanuddin University who were so active in commenting and questioning the presenters.
