Professor Marie Bashir, Governor of New South Wales and Chancellor of Sydney University visited UNHAS.
On Tuesday, May 15, 2012, Professor Marie Bashir, Governor of New South Wales and Chancellor of Sidney University, Professor Sangkot Marzuki, Director of Eijkman Institute, and Australian Embassy Delegation visited UNHAS. Dr. Syahrul Yasin Limpo, the Governor of South Sulawesi Province also came to greet Professor Marie Bashir, Governor of New South Wales. All the visitors were welcomed by Prof. Idrus A.Paturusi, Rector of Hasanuddin University and Deans from 14 faculties in UNHAS.
The purposes of their visited were to cement the institutional links and tripartite collaborations between SMS, Eijkman and Hasanuddin; to facilitate linkage between researchers and finalise lead projects; specifically to present advanced ideas for postgraduate student projects, related to hepatitis, TB and fungal disease (to be presented by PhD candidates identified in advance); to explore new research options in encephalitis and perinatal infections; to encourage the establishment of student exchange programs and link with appropriate people to help facilitate this; and also to identify opportunities for short term research and skill acquisition visits by staff members and students.
The Scientific Meeting was conducted at the Senate Room, Rectorate Building and moderated by Professor David Muldjono of Eijkman. Governor Syahrul Yasin Limpo gave a speech, followed by a speech from Governor Marie Bashir, and Rector Idrus Paturusi. The speakers for this Scientific Meeting were Prof. Irawan Yusuf, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, UNHAS, Prof. Bruce Robinson, Dean of the Faculty of Health Science, Sydney University, and Prof. Sangkot Marzuki of Eijkman. They also gave Media Conference after the Meeting, and followed by Agreement signing for Faculty of Agriculture in the 4th floor of Rectorate Building.
