Participants from 15 Countries Joined the Internasional Cultural Program (ICP) 2021

Universitas Hasanuddin (Unhas) through International Office established the Internasional Culture Program (ICP) 2021 under the theme of “Maritime Culture in South Sulawesi, Indonesia”.

The opening ceremony took place virtually at 08.00 WITA through the Zoom meeting application on Monday (23/08).

The event was officially opened by Prof. dr. Muh. Nasrum Massi, Sp.MK, Ph.D as the Vice-Rector for Research, Innovation, and Partnership. In his speech, he highly appreciated the event, even though it was conducted virtually. He also enthusiastically welcomed all the participants of ICP 2021.

“In this ICP 2021, the participants will broaden their knowledge about culture in South Sulawesi. This year program will provide and display the uniqueness and the beauty of Maritime culture in Bulukumba Regency,” explained Prof. Nasrum.

Furthermore, Prof. Nasrum conveyed that although the event was conducted virtually, he hoped that the participant could learn and enjoy the attractiveness of South Sulawesi Maritime culture. South Sulawesi Province is blessed with cultural wealth, especially the maritime culture. This province has been globally known for its maritime society, not only the culture but also its economical and historical aspects.

After the opening session, the participants were then introduced to the Profile of Universitas Hasanuddin delivered by Dr. Mahatma, S.T., M.Sc as the Director of Partnership. In his presentation, he explained that Unhas has achieved many awards and improved its quality both in academics and infrastructure to be the World Class University.

In 2021, Unhas as a higher education institution has been awarded the 79th world-ranked, top 10 in Asia, and the 2nd best University in Indonesia in terms of THE Ranking SDG’S.

In Quaquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Ranking (WUR), Unhas has been recognized as a world-class university in QS world-ranked #1001-1200, #294-367 in Asia, and #8-12 in Indonesia. Moreover, fork QS Asia University Ranking (AUR), Unhas is ranked #351-400 in Asia, #61 in ASEAN dan 11# in Indonesia.

In addition, on Research-based ranking or Scimago Institutions Ranking, Unhas has been ranked #695 in international level, #230 in Asia, and #3 in Indonesia. While in national accreditation from the Indonesian government, Unhas has reached the 7th position for the best university in Indonesia.

This year program was attended by 175 participants from 15 countries including Saudi Arabia, Australia, Phillippine, Japan, Korea Selatan, Malaysia, Morocco, Egypt, Nigeria, Pakistan, Palestina, Singapore, Sudan, Taiwan, and Yemen.

According to the schedule, the program will be conducted for 5 days straight, from August 23rd (Monday) to 27th (Friday) with many fun and scientific activities.
