Minister of Agriculture Syahrul Yasin Limpo Takes Public Lecture at the Faculty of Agriculture, Hasanuddin University

The Hasanuddin University Faculty of Agriculture held a Public Lecture which was given by Dr. Syahrul Yasin Limpo, SH., MH. The Indonesian Minister of Agriculture, on Tuesday (11/26). The public lecture with the theme "Agriculture Must Be Advanced, Independent and Modern with Togetherness" began at 11:00 WITA at the Hall of the Faculty of Agriculture Unhas.

Minister of Agriculture Syahrul was not present himself on this occasion. He brought a group consisting of Echelon 1 and 2 officials of the Indonesian Ministry of Agriculture.

In this activity, the Rector of Unhas, Prof. Dwia Aries Tina Pulubuhu, M.A and the Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture Prof. Dr. Ir. Baharuddin, Deputy Chancellors and Deans in the scope of Hasanuddin University.

In his speech the Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture expressed his pride from the Faculty of Agriculture because he had the opportunity to be visited by the Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Indonesia who also served as the Governor of South Sulawesi for 2 Periods (2008 - 2018)

"The Faculty of Agriculture of Unhas has less than 2,300 students, plus our lecturers who have started in their fields, who are responsive quickly and will later be the spearhead of agricultural development in Indonesia," said Prof. Baharuddin.

His expression showed that the Faculty of Agriculture Unhas itself was ready to support the development programs of the Ministry of RI that had been announced.

Unhas Rector, Prof. Dwia Aries Tina Pulubuhu, MA, welcomed the Minister of Agriculture Syahrul and his entourage at Hasanuddin University warmly. He expressed his gratitude to the Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Indonesia for taking the time to provide a lot of information to lecturers and students of Hasanuddin University.

The Chancellor of Unhas hoped that the presence of Minister of Agriculture in Hasanuddin could provide encouragement to students and academics of the agro complex complex to always be enthusiastic in advancing the quality and quantity of Indonesian agriculture.

"Mr. Minister, if you have an assignment for us, please submit it, because we declare that we are ready to support work programs in the process of Indonesian agricultural development," said Prof. Dwia with antusia. He then closed his remarks by congratulating the Minister of Agriculture Syahrul.

Shortly after the opening ceremony ended, the minister syahrul then began to deliver a public lecture, he began his lecture by describing strategic plans and short-term and main work programs of the Ministry of Agriculture, especially the steps taken by the Ministry to support the national economy in a global context.

"Agricultural diplomacy, if it is not good, it will damage the distribution channels as well," he explained.

In his material, Minister Syahrul also mentioned the alleviation of vulnerable areas for food insecurity. Launched within 6 years the range of food insecurity in 2018 that touched 18% will try to be reduced to 105 in 2024.

This public lecture was attended by more than 200 participants, consisting of lecturers and students from various faculties within the scope of Hasanuddin University. (*)
