DR.Ir.H.Rhiza S Sadjad, M.S.E.E.
The important mission that I am carrying now is helping the Department to establish a new area of study in addition to the two old areas of study, i.e. Electrical Power Systems and Telecommunication. The new area includes 3 (three) major areas in Electrical Engineering, namely Electronics, Computer Engineering and Control Engineering all in one package of curricula. It's kind of hard, isn't it? Sort of a mission impossible ..... Anyway, we insist to try our best ...
After trying teaching many courses since 1995, I decided that my "favourite" sequence of undergraduate-courses is (Sorry, I have no time to develop my own descriptions of the courses I teach, so I link them to some related course homepage somewhere in the world..... to provide examples here):
The three courses above are intended to provide undergrad-EE students "strong" background and basics to take elective courses in Control Area in the final year(s) of their program.
Elective courses are fun to teach, I enjoy teaching the following senior level courses:
Outside Control Area, I gave up teaching MICROELECTRONIC DEVICES, DIGITAL SYSTEMS DESIGN and IC TECHNOLOGY a couple of years ago, because I did not feel competent to teach them .....
But occasionally I still teach ELECTRONIC INSTRUMENTATION SYSTEMS, ELECTRONIC SYSTEMS DESIGN, INDUSTRIAL/POWER ELECTRONICS (for both graduate and undergraduate programs) and TELECOMMUNICATION TRANSMISSION SYSTEMS (a course that I teach based on my "sabbathical leave" experience in industry: PT CMI Bandung).
The most exciting courses that I have been teaching are COMMUNICATION and INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY for Social Sciences graduate students and HUMAN and COMPUTER INTERACTION for a private school of Computer and Management Information Systems in town.
O, yes, as part of my "service to the community", I teach at several private universities in town. It's necessary to earn a moderately good living here. I also give lectures around on INTERNET in INDONESIA and a little about COMPUTER NETWORK to participate in promoting the beauty of this new media and to help our society to enter the (what so called) "global information era".
