Dear Rhiza and Family:

Your email arrived two dasy ago, i.e. on 28 Nov.   Thank you very much.

The photo came through beautifully.  It first appeared very small on my printer.  I was afraid that blowing it up my decrease clarity.  I increased it to 4 by 6 inches.  It printed out magnificently .  What a handsome family you have!!!!

It is great to note how wonderfully modern medicine has treated our wives.  Yes your two older daughters appear as very mature women, with the “little” one growing rapidly.

I am sorry that you found it necessary to retire from your chairmanship.  I am sure that your guidance in that position will be missed, but I am more certain that your leadership in the ADB project is essential and will be greatly appreciated.  I will much appreciate hearing how that is moving along and what type of gear you will be purchasing for the labs.  As I visit UW ECE I keep gettinng more computer based ?SIMULATION? experiments rather that the student obtaining true hands-on experience with real instruments.  I hope that yours goes very well, and that the students appreciate the effort you are putting forth.

You spoke of being on an extended vacation.  Did that allow any travel for you to visit family?

Going back to the photo, do you have your own digital camera, or was that taken by a photo studio?  We purchased a digital camera “for Sandi” on her 2002 birthday, but she tends to be a bit afraid of its complications, hence I am the one who uses that.  I will attempt to attach a copy of a photo of our grandson, Charlie.  He is 13 and 1/2 months old.  He is a very active young man.  In that both his mother and father are employed at the Med  School library he goes to day-care five days per week.  This gives him much experience working with other children and his “teachers”.  This leads to rapid learning.
He began walking at 11 months.  This soon became running.  It is a great joy visiting with him, and playing with him and his toys.  This little guy takes great interest in all kinds of hardware, hinges, handles, door stops, fireplace doors, etc.  He loves to climb on furniture, up stairs, ladders etc.  It is a challenge keeping him safe.

I cannot go on to long now, in that Sandi has asked me to do a few chores very soon, so I will now close and attempt to attach a photo.

With the best to all of you,

Dick

I am now attempting to send my first photo via email.  This is father Dad, Mother Heidi and “Little Man “ Charlie.  Let me know ho it comes through.
