Technical Description
On this table unit, the arrangement of the beam specimens on their side enables the experimental set-up to be clearly seen. By observing the beam from the front, the bending of the beam can be easily observed. The interchangeable beams of U, L and I section are clamped at one end in a solid support and the angular position indicated on a graduated disc. A point load is applied to the free end using a set of weights. The locating bolts facilitate a 25mm offset of the application of force for generating a combined torsion/bending load. This is necessary for investigating the shear centre. Dial gauges measure the deflection of the end of the beam. Precise zeroing is possible using adjustment bolts.
