FL 170 Curved Bar Apparatus Show data sheet (pdf file)
Technical Description
The unit enables the deformation of lightly curved bars under load to be measured. One after the other, a circular bar, a semicircular bar and a quarter circle shaped bar made of metal can be loaded using varying weights. Displacement dial gauges record the transverse and longitudinal deformation. To make the measurements comparable and to simplify the calculation, all three bars are of the same cross-section and thus have the same geometrical moment of inertia. Suction feet ensure that the unit does not slip. Due to its strong construction, the unit is extremely well suited to student experiments.
