Technical Description
The HM 360 represents a closed system for training and experiments that is equipped with all the necessary measuring devices. The test rig is equipped with 4 pumps, provision is made for the installation of an additional pump of any type. The pumps fitted comprise 2 identical centrifugal pumps with adjustable speed DC shunt wound motors, a self-priming side channel pump with single phase AC motor, and a reciprocating pump with a single phase AC motor. Manometers on the suction and delivery side of the pumps indicate the relevant pressures in the system. The flow is indicated by a water meter. Volumetric flow rate measurement can be made using the stop watch included. The rotational speed of the drive motors is determined using a handheld tachometer. Current and voltage to the drive motors are indicated in easy to read form on the switch box associated with the test rig. The power regulator for controlling the speed of the DC motors is also to be found there. Torque is determined using a torque wrench with gauge; with the aid of the wrench a counter torque is placed on the shafts of the motors installed as pendulum mechanisms, the torque can then be read off. In this way the HM 360 provides a wide range of measured data that makes it possible to address key problem areas in pump technology. Due to the closed water circuit and supply from an own

tank, the test rig is independent of the water mains.

This system is available as the HM 362 with PC data acquisition.

The test rig is suitable both for practical work during training in training colleges, and also for laboratory experiments in higher education. The range of experiments covers the following:
