Technical Description

The direct conversion of light energy into electrical energy is termed the photovoltaic effect. Since photovoltaic systems primarily use the visible spectrum of light they also work in diffuse light, such as when the sky is overcast. The system contains two solar cell arrays on a swivelling support mounted on castors. A load is simulated using a rheostat. Illuminance, surface temperature and the current and voltage generated are displayed digitally on a measuring unit. The unit is designed for use in daylight.
