Car Air Conditioning Trainer

Technical Description

The refrigerant circuit contains a belt-driven compressor, an air-cooled condenser and an evaporator with cold air outlet and expansion valve. All components used in the trainer are typical parts found in automotive engineering, so it is relevant in practice. The power supply is 12VDC which is typical for vehicles. Even the function of the ignition switch has been realised. A powerful three-phase motor is used for the drive; the speed of this motor can be continuously adjusted using a frequency converter. Speeds of up to 3000rpm can be set. The compressor is driven using a magnetic coupling. Important parameters such as pressure, temperature, flow rate, and the power consumption of the compressor are displayed. As a special feature, 8 switchable faults are fitted. The system is particularly suitable for training car mechanics. A three-phase mains electricity supply is required for operation.
