Plate Weirs Set of 2 Plates

Technical Description

The HM 161.30 experimental set-up includes 2 different weir plates that can each be placed on a weir carrier and then fitted to the base of the channel. The weir plates represent a Thomson weir and a rectangular thin plate weir. The weirs mentioned are measuring weirs used for measuring the flow rate. The weir plates and weir carrier are made of PVC. Tubular seals made of plastic inserted in slots on the side of the weir plates complete the experimental set-up. The HM 161.54 Base Plate is required for fastening the weir in the channel.

Learning Objectives / Experiments

Together with HM 161 and HM 161.54, the following experiments are possible:
· Discharge on an overflow weir
· Measurement of flows over weirs
· Occurrence of separation on a sharp edged weir

For exact measurement of water levels, the use of the HM 161.52 Level Gauge on the moving HM 161.59 Instrument Carriage is recommended.
