Technical Description
The HM 450.02 Francis Turbine Set is a functional model of a water operated reaction turbine. Characteristic for such turbines is the partial conversion of pressure and motion energy at the control device, and partially at the impeller. On a Francis turbine the control device is in the form a control wheel with adjustable blades. Apart from the control wheel, the turbine consists of a spiral housing transparent on one side and the impeller. An adjustable band brake is fitted to the impeller shaft for applying load to the turbine. The Francis turbine is supplied from the HM 450 Basic Unit. Rotational speed and output moment are measured electronically and indicated on the switch cupboard on the Basic Unit.

Using the set designed for training and experimental purposes, the following experiments can be performed:

· Determination of performance curves at different speeds
