Technical Description
Gear pumps are lubricated by the pumping medium itself. One typical example of use is as an oil pump in cars and trucks. The pump used in this application is a special model, which is able to pump water. The pump is fitted to a base plate which is simply slid into the HM 365.10 Basic Module Water Pumps and fixed in place. The pump is equipped with electronic sensors for recording intake and delivery pressure. It is connected to the experimental set-up using flexible hoses. To be able to interchange the pump easily and straightforwardly, the hoses are equipped with rapid action couplings. The motor necessary for drive is fitted to the HM 365 Universal Drive and Brake Unit.

Together with the HM 365 Universal Drive and Brake Unit and the HM 365.10 Basic Module Water Pumps, the following experiments are possible:
· Recording of pump curves
· Determination of the power requirement of the pump
· Determination of the hydraulic power output of the pump
· Determination of the pump efficiency
· Determination of the system characteristic and operating point of the pump
