Technical Description
Using this handy, strong table unit, the period of oscillation of a pendulum can be investigated as a function of the length of the pendulum and acceleration due to gravity. The object of the experiment is a pendulum with an almost zero mass rod and sliding weights. The pendulum is held in position with a special retaining device. In this way it is possible to continuously adjust the plane of oscillation between vertical and horizontal. The influence of the acceleration due to gravity can thus be reduced as required in this way. The usage of the EM 022 Digital Photogate Timer enables the duration of the period to be measured with ease.
