Technical Description
This table unit is used to investigate the deformation and bending loading on real girders as found, e.g., in lightweight construction. With the unit it possible to experimentally demonstrate stresses in girders and buckling stresses in thin sheets. The test specimens are a shear web girder and a girder with circular cut-outs. These are of sandwich construction and mounted in a cantilever arrangement. The free ends of the girders can be loaded using a hydraulic cylinder; the actual compression force applied is indicated on a manometer. The hydraulic system is maintenance-free. The bending of the girders is determined using a dial gauge on the upper flange. Strain gauges are fitted to the girders to measure the strain. The 16-Channel Ext. Unit accessory FL 151 is used for evaluating the results.
