HM 500.06 Venturi Meter Show data sheet (pdf file) Print page
Technical Description
The Venturi tube is a so-called orifice device, i.e. an increase in speed occurs due to a reduction in the cross-section of the pipe through which the fluid is flowing, this results in a measurable reduction in pressure, dp. The basis for this type of volumetric flow measurement is given by Bernoulli's equation and the law of continuity. As the Venturi tube is divided into a convergent inlet area and a divergent outlet area, the pressure losses are however significantly lower than on other orifice device, e.g. measuring nozzles or orifices. When using the device, attention must be paid to the direction of flow.
