EM 024 Vertical Acceleration Apparatus Show data sheet (pdf file) Print page
Technical Description
Using this table unit, very impressive demonstrations can be performed on the independence of the vertical acceleration due to gravity from the horizontal velocity components of a falling body. A centrally pivoted launching rail is pretensioned with a tension spring. Two identical steel balls are fitted to the rail as specimens. When the experiment is triggered, one ball falls off whilst, at the same time, the second is launched horizontally. A solid wooden block is used as the base plate for the unit, this only needs to be held firmly for the experiment. The base plate has two receptacles for the storage of the two balls.
