14 Students of Universitas Hasanuddin Pass the Selection of IISMA (Indonesian International Mobility Awards) as the Kampus Merdeka program Organized by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology

14 Universitas Hasanuddin students successfully passed the selection of the Indonesian International Student Mobility Awards (IISMA) program organized by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology. This information is in accordance with the announcement issued by the IISMA committee on Sunday (13/06).

IISMA is one of the excellent programs of the Kampus Merdeka (Independent Campus), which aims to provide rights and opportunities for students to experience self-development activities at international universities.

Through an interview on Thursday (17/06) with the Director of Education of Unhas, Dr. Ida Leida M, SKM., M.KM., M.Sc.PH., explained that this program gives opportunities for students to take courses or activities that can be equated with courses from their home university.

Students who participate in this activity can receive scholarships from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology. In addition, they will study at international universities that have a partnership agreement with the Ministry of Education and Culture. The program will run for one semester with activities equivalent to 20 credits by taking courses and some exciting self-development activities.

“Many of our students are interested in this program. However, one of the Ministry of Education and Culture requirements for those who have participated in the Kampus Merdeka program, especially those who have received funding, cannot participate in IISMA. Initially, there were around 100 students registered at the Campus level. However, after going through the administrative selection process, Unhas only recommended 37 students to participate in the Ministry of Education and Culture selection series. Eventually, the Ministry later announced 14 students out of 37 recommended students to have passed the selection,” explained Dr. Ida.

The number of participants who passed the selection exceeded our expectations, considering the selection process was quite tight and followed by all PTNs (Public Universities) and PTSs (Private Universities) all over Indonesia. Therefore, she hopes that students can later utilize this opportunity more efficiently to enlarge knowledge and networking.

It is further expected that the participation of Unhas Students in this program could either directly or indirectly contribute good impacts on Unhas’s efforts to continue to optimize its existence in the international scope to achieve the targeted goal as a world-class university.

In addition, it will have a positive impact on the image of Unhas at foreign universities, which is expected to help increase outbound students and global networks.

“The IISMA program can open the way for our students to increase their knowledge as well as their network. Later, before leaving, we will guide them to become the representatives to introduce Unhas at the university they choose to study for one semester,” added Dr. Ida.

In the IISMA program, students must take several courses offered by the partner universities. The lectures will be carried out face to face or offline. Besides, the departure of participants will be adjusted to the academic calendar of overseas partner universities.
