Glorious, the Indonesian Independence Commemoration in Unhas

The 71st Republic of Indonesian Independence commemoration took place in a solemn yet aroused ceremony in the Unhas basketball field, with the Unhas rector Prof. Dr. Dwia Aries Tina Pulubuhu, M.A. as the inspector of the ceremony.

It was known to be of solemn elements as it was followed along by those that were present, including the Head of the Unhas Board of Trustees (MWA), Prof. Dr. H. Basri Hasanuddin, M.A., Head of the Academic Senate, Prof. Dr. Ir. Moh. Restu, University Secretary, Dr. Ir. Nasaruddin Salam, MT., the Vice-Rectors, Deans/ Faculty Representatives, Heads of Institutions, Heads of Bureaus, and the rest of the heads and staffs of Unhas.

It further consisted of arousal elements as the event coincided with the inauguration of the sports competition in celebrating the 60th Dies Natalis Unhas. Unhas Rector accompanied by the Head of the Board of Trustees, and the Vice-Rectors of Unhas, released the balloons carrying a small banner of the Dies Natalis Unhas, and at the same time, also appeared an aeroplane that attached a small poster that wrote “60th Dies Natalis Unhas.”

The independence ceremony consisted of the raising of the Indonesian flag and the proclamation of Pancasila and Mukaddimah UUD 1945 by the members of the scout. Unhas Rector then proceeded with the handing over of the satya lencana tribute to two of Unhas lecturers.

Minister of Research, Innovation, and Higher Education, M. Natsir during his written remarks that was read out by the Unhas Rector, hoped that all components of the Ministry of Research, Innovation, and Higher Education would fill the independence with commitments and a working spirit to advance the development of technology and innovation as the foundations for the state’s independence and competitive level in this globalization era.

“Let us surge an Indonesia of real work,” hoped the Minister of Research, Innovation, and Higher Education.

According to the Minister, technology and innovation are integral parts of our lives that cannot be dispatched, as it has extended to the sector of development. Therefore we cannot depend solely upon natural resources that would vanish if we consumed it continuously. We must be able to realize innovations and technologies as the foundations of development advancements.
