UNIVERSITAS HASANUDDIN

Unhas Launches an Application Designated for Parents/ Guardians

Another revolutionary innovation launched by Universitas Hasanuddin, the leading higher education institution in Eastern Indonesia, is an online-based application of “Student Academic Monitoring Application by Parents/ Guardians” with the name E-Wali. The application assembled by the Directorate of Information Technology Unhas is aimed to involve student parents/ guardians in the process of observing the progress of academic studies of the students.

With the application, student parents/ guardians will be able to know the schedules of lectures, see the student attendance of the lectures, know the grades of students each semester, the Grade Points of each semester, as well as the Grade Point Average. The application also provides the information on the tuition fee payment schedules. The university through this application also makes it feasible to send essential updated information based on the needs of the student’s parents/ guardians.

The application is launched as an avenue of participation for parents/ guardians to actively be engaged in the process of the student’s development. Throughout the years, parents/ guardians in many cases were shocked to see of their children’s academic results in Unhas that turned out to face immense problems, example being their low attendance rates in lectures (meanwhile they attained information on their children’s activeness to be present on campus)

How to access the application is known to be simple and easy, and could be accessed through a laptop, tablet, or smartphone via Internet. First, parents/ guardians need to access the URL http://www.unhas.ac.id/ewali. In the front page, there would be a form to fill “username” and “password.” The username is filled with the student registration number (NIM). Meanwhile to obtain the password, student parents/ guardians may contact the academic division or the Directorate of Information Technology.

The application is an answer towards the high figures of students that faced the evaluation of academic study periods. As reported previously, 920 students are threatened to face evaluation of academic study periods. The head of the Rector Secretariat, Suharman Hamzah, Ph.D., stated that “the application acts as an avenue for parents/ guardians of students, to together with Unhas, observe the progress of a student’s academic development. We want to press down the number of students that dropped out, to the lowest figures possible.”

Universitas Hasanuddin that recently achieved the status of being the 8th best out of the 4.446 higher education institutions in all of Indonesia keeps advancing its innovation. The achievements that have been accomplished are aimed to ignite the developments in services of education, research, and community services.
