Among the 55 Doctoral Degrees, and 1.005 post-graduate graduates in Thursday (8/9), was a Sudanese citizen, known as Elkheir Hassaballah Abdallah Ahamed, that completed his Doctoral Program from the study program of Agriculture.

He graduated on 28 July 2016 and included as one of the Doctoral graduates that completed his studies just over three years. Elkhaer Hassaballah Abdallah Ahamed defended his thesis under the title “The Development of Rice Aerobic Technology to Advance Harvests in Drought Conditions in Tropical Areas,” and was supervised by Prof. Dr. Ir. Unhas Rector Prof. Dr. Dwia Aries Aries Tina Pulubuhu, M.A. expressed her sincere appreciation towards this graduate that originated from the African Continent, that was able to complete his studies in a matter of relatively short time.
“Included in the few that completed their doctoral programs faster was one that originated from Sudan,” stated Dwia while inviting the graduate to stand up.
According to Dwia Aries Tina Pulubuhu, during the post-graduate graduation ceremony, Unhas inducted 55 Doctors from numerous study programs, 549 Masters, 24 Specialists Education Doctors, 3 Dentistry Specialist Doctors, and 374 Profession graduates. Those renowned as achieving the highest include Muhammad Chaerul from Civil Engineering for the Doctoral Program that he completed in 3 years 11 months (cum laude) with a GPA of 4,00, Muhammad Ichsan Hamzah (Planning Engineering) for the Masters Program that he finished in 1 year 11 months with a GPA of 3,95, Putri Marcelina Nagarini Hartono (Genital Skin Specialists, Medicine) that she completed in 4 years 1 month with a GPA of 3,89, Brilyanti Horas (Prosthodontics Specialists, Dentistry) that she completed in 3 years with a GPA of 3,90, Hapsarui Yuniar Kusuma (Profession Doctor) that she completed in 2 years 8 months with a GPA of 3,95, Luna Yunita (Nursing Profession, Medicine) that she completed in 1 year 3 months with a GPA of 4,00, Ridhayani (Dentistry Profession) that she completed in 2 years 8 months with a GPA of 3,74, Rifka Nurul Utami (Pharmacist Profession, Pharmacy) that she completed in year with a GPA of 3,94, and Suhartono (Accounting Profession, Economics) that he performed in a year with a GPA of 4,00.

On this period of the graduation ceremony, 4 Doctoral Degree graduates completed their studies in less than three years. For the Masters Degree program itself consists of 401 graduates, in which 549 of the graduates (73%) completed their studies in less than two years.
With the decrease of the average study time of the Doctoral Degree students, the University can produce young researchers having an ever-extended productive phase time. Unhas also consistently applied the rule of publication for those pursuing their studies in the Graduate School of Unhas, including post-graduate programs, Doctor Specialists Programs, and Dentistry Specialists Programs.
“Thus the performances of research and scientific publications will be of greater quality. The performances of institutions have been a significant attention of the Ministry of Research, Innovation and Higher Education, specifically on institutions that are autonomous,” stated Dwia.
The increase of scientific publications indexed by Scopus reflects an onward better quality. In January 2014, the amounts of scientific publications were only 489 articles, and as of the 1st of September 2016, the figures have rose to 964 articles, or in other words, doubled in quantity.
“I am assured that we can achieve 1.000 articles of Scopus indexed by the end of 2016.” The target can be of ease to achieve if only the participations of the Graduate programs are more active,” optimistically stated by Dwia during the graduation ceremony that was attended by the Head and Members of the Board of Trustees, Head, Secretary, and Members of the Academic Senate, the Head and Members of the Professorial Board Unhas, Deans, as well as all invited guests of the event.
