The International Seminar and Dialogue of Malayness (Selogika) in the Eastern Indonesia IV was conducted in the Unhas Campus between 5-6 October 2016. The event was held by the Center of Malay Studies, Center for Community Research and Development (puslitbang). Culture, Humanities Research, and Community Service Institution consisted of many researchers from both in and out of the state.
Head of the Committee Selogika Dr. Hj. Nurhayati, M.Hum explained, that the facilitators include: Dean of the Faculty of Cultural Studies Unhas Prof. Drs. Burhanuddin Arafah, M.Hum., Ph.D., Prof. Dr. James T. Collins (Northern Illinois University, AS), Prof. Madya Datuk Zainal Abidin Borhan (Head of Gapena Malaysia), Prof. Dr. Gofran Ali Ibrahim (Universitas Khaerun, Ternate, North Maluku), Nik Abdul Rakib In Nik Hassan, M.A. (Prince Songkla University, Thailand), Prof. Dr. Pawennari Hijjang, M.A. (Head of the Post-Graduate Anthropology Program Study Unhas), Dr. Hj. Nurhayati, M.Hum. (Head of the Linguistic Masters Study Program Graduate School Unhas), Mr. Fang Qiang, M.Hum (Vice Director of the Center of Mandarin Language Center Unhas), Dr. Sukardi Gau, M.Hum. (Head of the Gorontalo Language Office), and Dr. Asrif, M.Hum (Head of the Ambon Language Office).
The seminar was conducted throughout the full day at Ipteks Building Unhas, Tamalanrea Campus for the first day. The second day will consist of city tour to Rotterdam Fort, Losari Beach, and Paotere Port.
Nurhayati stated that the aim of the Selogika conduct is to discuss histories, languages, and cultures of the Malay through scientific avenues. It is further planned to provide recommendations to the government, observers of history, language, literature, culture, and communities.
“The Governor of South Sulawesi will be the keynote speaker,” stated Nurhayati on the scientific event with the theme “Exploring History, Language, Literature, and Culture in the Cluster of Nusantara Malays.” (*)
