Three Study Programs of Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Hasanuddin, received recognition from the Indonesian Accreditation Board for Engineering Education (IABEE). The three study programs are Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Environmental Engineering Study Program.
Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Prof. Dr. Ir. Muhammad Arsyad Thaha, M.T., expressed his gratitude for this achievement in an interview on Sunday (04/04). On the same occasion, he specifically mentioned that Civil Engineering and Electrical Engineering Study Programs had previously received international recognition from ABET. Therefore, His statement can infer that the Faculty of Engineering of Universitas Hasanuddin consistently continues to maximize the development of learning quality.
“Civil Engineering has received three kinds of international recognition, including the 2018 AUN-QA, and now we are grateful that IABEE also accredits the Environmental Engineering study program. This result proves that our learning quality standards have been recognized internationally. Unhas Alumni now are at the same level as alumni of IABEE accredited universities from other countries under the Washington Accord, “explained Prof. Arsyad.
Furthermore, Prof. Arsyad explained that the IABEE accreditation process lasts for one year, starting from registration, submission of self-evaluation reports, review and study program responses in several rounds, visitations, the first evaluation, and the determination of the assessment results.
Prof. Arsyad added that the IABEE accreditation assessed several things. The items were the design and achievement of the results from the graduate profile, including the fulfilment of Graduate Learning Outcomes (GLO), the design and implementation of a curriculum that can meet the GLO, student conditions, lecturer qualifications, support from the facilities and the university leaders in the learning process, and quality evaluation process and continuous improvement.
“Along with this achievement, it will provide more confidence and strengthen the quality of learning in the study program to the public. Moreover, the quality-competitiveness of other universities is increasing, thus encouraging graduates to meet human resources’ needs also becomes the faculty support for Unhas towards World Class University. “added Prof. Arsyad.
Through the assessment results, Prof. Arsyad hopes that the implementation of the input from the IABEE can produce quality study program management.
The IABEE is an independent and non-profit organization established as part of the Indonesian Engineers Association (IEA) to foster a culture of higher education management in engineering and computing. This accreditation institution has also been recognized by the Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education.
This institution was formed under the guidance of JABEE (Japan Accreditation Board for Engineering Education) as a signatory to the Washington Accord that is a multilateral agreement that regulates the equality of various independent accreditation institutions from abroad for engineering study programs.
