Makassar, Akademia Makassar — Hasanuddin University (Unhas) continues to demonstrate its commitment to providing optimal services for prospective students, particularly regarding tuition payment or Uang Kuliah Tunggal (UKT). To support the admission process for the 2024/2025 academic year, Unhas has established a Special UKT Service Unit located at the Integrated Service Center, ground floor of the Rectorate Building, Tamalanrea Campus.
For inquiries or assistance, students can contact the official Unhas Public Relations hotline at +62 811 500 3636.
Vice-Rector for Academic and Student Affairs, Prof. Drg. Muhammad Ruslin, M.Kes., Ph.D., Sp.BM(K), explained that this initiative aims to make it easier for new students to access information and resolve issues related to tuition fees.
“We understand that many new students need guidance and support in managing their UKT matters. With this special service unit, we hope to provide better and more responsive assistance,” said Prof. Ruslin on Thursday (May 16, 2024).
The Special UKT Service Unit focuses on two main functions: consultation and information services, which include detailed explanations about tuition policies, payment procedures, and financial aid options, and application assistance, which helps students in submitting requests for tuition reductions, document verification, and administrative support.
“We want to ensure that all students have equal opportunities to pursue higher education without being hindered by financial barriers. This UKT Service Unit is expected to be an effective solution to address students’ needs,” Prof. Ruslin added.
Meanwhile, Vice-Rector for Planning and Finance, Prof. Subehan, S.Si., M.Pharm.Sc., Ph.D., Apt., stated that a dedicated team has been formed to operate the service desk. “The team at the service post integrates both academic and financial departments. Academic inquiries will be handled by the academic staff, while UKT-related questions will be referred to the finance team,” he explained.
He also noted that the university may conduct re-verification for students who wish to appeal their assigned UKT category. “Re-verification may be carried out if necessary,” said Prof. Subehan.
Previously, Unhas Rector Prof. Dr. Jamaluddin Jompa, M.Sc. reaffirmed the university’s commitment to ensuring that no student discontinues their studies due to financial hardship. “The UKT determination process follows a formula based on each family’s economic condition. On the other hand, families with greater financial means are encouraged to contribute to the advancement of our education system. May their support bring blessings to their children’s education at Unhas,” he stated on Wednesday (May 15, 2024).
