Two Unhas lecturers won The Crispian Scully Research Award 2020 in the category of “the Best Review Article” from the Oral and Dental Research Trust (ODRT), a non-profit organization in the field of dental and oral health research based in Birmingham, England.
The Crispian Scully Research Award is an award given to researchers and authors in the field of oral health worldwide. This award is to remember and honour Prof. (Emeritus) Crispian Scully, CBE, FMedSci, DSc, MD, Ph.D., MDS, FDS, FRCPath. Throughout his life, Prof. Scully has dedicated himself to the Trustee Board of Domestic Violence and is known as a figure in clinical academics.
The lecturers who won this award were dr. Faqi Nurdiansyah Hendra, (Ph.D. Candidate – VU University Medical Center Amsterdam) from the Faculty of Medicine and drg. Muhammad Ruslin, M.Kes., Sp.BM (K)., Ph.D., from the Faculty of Dentistry.
The award-winning article is “Global incidence and profile of ameloblastoma: A systematic review and meta-analysis”, written in collaboration by Faqi Nurdiansyah Hendra, Ellen M. Van Cann, Marco N. Helder, Muhammad Ruslin, Jan G. de Visscher, Tymour Forouzanfar, and Henrica CW de Vet. The other authors are researchers from VUmc Amsterdam.
In his explanation on Monday (8/2), drg. Muhammad Ruslin, Sp.BM (K), Ph.D., said that the article was published in the journal Oral Diseases Volume 26 Issue 1 of 2019 with Impact Factor 2,613 (Clarivate Analytics), Wiley Publisher.
This article discusses the evaluation of the global incidence of ameloblastoma and provides a profile of ameloblastoma patients.
Ameloblastoma itself is a benign tumour originating from the tooth epithelium, grows slowly and usually without complaints. These tumours are generally found in the area where the teeth are growing.
“At the same time, Faqi Nurdiansyah is currently a Ph.D. student at VUmc Amsterdam, The Netherlands, where I am also a co-promoter. So the findings presented in this article are a structured study accompanied by a meta-analysis of ameloblastoma diseases around the world at this time. this,” said Ruslin, who is also the Dean of Dentistry Faculty of Unhas.
The best review article itself is an acknowledgement of the quality of a journal article published through a review process. One of the advantages of articles written by dr. Faqi and drg. Ruslin is a study conducted that is the first to assess the global incidence of ameloblastoma.
