Universitas Hasanuddin and the Faculty of Nursing (FKep), in collaboration with the Department of Nursing, Yokohama City University, represented the Sakura Science Exchange program conducted online. The opening ceremony virtually started at 08.00 WITA through the Zoom meeting application, Wednesday (05/01).
To begin with, Yuka Kanoya representing Yokohama City University, explained that the Sakura Science program introduced and provided experience regarding Japanese science and technology, which was particularly intentioned to the nursing field. The participants gained knowledge about science and technology and the culture of the two countries.
“Even though this activity is carried out online, I am pretty sure that the participants will still conveniently obtain the experience and knowledge shared. We hope you can visit Yokohama to experience firsthand the learning atmosphere here, also hopefully, we can visit Unhas,” Yuka Kanoya explained.
On the same occasion, the Dean of the Faculty of Nursing (FKep) Unhas, Dr Ariyanti Saleh, S.Kep., M.Kes., through her remarks said that the program could happen due to the collaboration between FKep Unhas and Yokohama City University as a means of building networks between Unhas and Yokohama students. She added that the participants could learn many things throughout this program.
“This activity was attended by roughly 33 participants, both lecturers and students from FKep Unhas. In addition to building international cooperation between universities, this program is also an effort to support Unhas heading to the World Class University. All elements involved are also expected to get greater information and knowledge,” explained Ariyanti.
In addition to a forum for sharing knowledge, research and nursing experiences between the two universities, the Sakura Science program introduces the culture of the two countries. Students could attain experience following international level programs, interacting with lecturers and students at their respective destined places, and gaining new knowledge.
Back in January 2021, the Nursing Faculty had conducted a similar program which was then reconducted this year as part of the commitment and collaboration of the two universities.
