The Faculty of Marine Sciences and Fisheries (FIKP) of Universitas Hasanuddin held a public lecture on the proposition of “Data Model Integration in Ocean Environment”. Ir. Alamsyah Kurniawan, ST., Ph.D., lecturer at the Bandung Institute of Technology or Institute of Technology, Bandung, was invited as the resource person. This event was conducted offline starting from 9.00 to 12.00 WITA in the 2nd Floor Meeting Room, FIKP Unhas, and connected virtually through the Zoom meeting application, Wednesday (02/03).
The event was officially commenced by the Dean of FIKP, Safruddin, S.Pi., MP., Ph.D. In his remarks, he expressed his deep appreciation for the resource person who had been minded to share experiences and information related to the use of the integration model in relation to the fisheries and marine sector. He hoped that the participants would be able to take advantage of the public lecture considering the fascinating material delivered.
“To students, you have to take this occasion as a great opportunity to enhance your knowledge. Some courses are closely related to the material presented and it is very possible to continue with model integration in order to obtain a more comprehensive interpretation,” Safruddin explained.
After the official commencement, it proceeded with the material presented by the resource person. In general, he provided an illustration of the importance of model integration on data in the marine sector. He explained that in the current era of the Internet of Things (IoT), data in cyberspace is easy to access and can also be managed directly using applications available in the form of open access.
Dr. Alamsyah also reviewed the importance of the hierarchy of DIKW (Data, Information, Knowledge, and Wisdom) in relation to the utilization of model integration in the marine and fisheries sector.
After the presentation, it was followed by a discussion and question and answer session. The public lecture moderated by Dr. Wasir Samad, S.Si., and M.Si (Lecturer at FIKP Unhas) attended by approximately 100 participants run well and ended at 12.00 WITA.
