Faculty of Medicine of Universitas Hasanuddin (UNHAS) Held an International Webinar with the theme of “Management of Covid-19 Patients in Japan and Indonesia”. The webinar started at 10.00 pm via the Zoom meeting application on Thursday (04/06).
Mafumi Okimoto MD., Prof. Dr. Budu, Ph.D., Sp. M (K)., M. Med.Ed., Prof. Ohge Hiroki, MD., Ph.D., Prof. dr. Mansyur Arief, Ph.D., Sp.PK(K)., Prof. Nobuaki Shime, MD., Ph.D., and Prof. Dr. dr. Syafri Kamsul Arief took part as the main speakers.
In the opening remark of Unhas Rector, Prof. Dr. Dwia Aries Tina Pulubuhu, MA., expressed her thankfulness for the speakers’ willingness to share their knowledge and insight to increase comprehension Covid-19.
“Covid-19 Pandemic does not cause damage to the health sector only but also has implications for all sectors of human life. The Pandemic has significantly slowed the economy, not only on the regional level but also on the global level. Various adjustment needs to be taken at necessary,” Said Prof Dwia.
The webinar was officially opened by the Governor of South Sulawesi, H. M. Nurdin Abdullah. In his speech, he explained how the knowledge and technology of high-quality Japanese health examinations are needed by Indonesia today, especially in dealing with this Covid-19 pandemic.
“The collaboration between Japanese and Indonesian Government, in this case, South Sulawesi, has existed since I served as Bantaeng Regent for 10 years, and this relationship has continued until now as I am the Governor. For this reason, I hope that the relationship can be even closer, especially in increasing collaboration in the health sector,” said Prof. Nurdin.
To maintain economic security, through the Social Safety Net, the government has assisted communities affected by Covid-19, such as laid-off workers, the poor, and people who cannot work due to social and physical restrictions.
“The South Sulawesi Provincial Government’s innovation in handling and preventing the spread of epidemics is called ‘Covid-19 tourism’. This collaborative program involves several hotels to be quarantine places for Persons in Monitoring, Patients in Care, and People without Symptoms. This is expected to facilitate supervision, to minimize the spread, and to keep the economic sector alive,” continued Prof. Nurdin.
After the opening, the activity was then continued with a presentation from the speakers.
Mafumi Okimoto MD delivered a topic of “Succesful Management Of Covid-19 Clusters In Hiroshima”. Mafumi presented Japan’s strategy for Covid-19, focusing on cluster-based approaches and characteristics determined by transmission type.
Approximately 300 participants attended the webinar.
