The Faculty of Nursing of Universitas Hasanuddin (FKep Unhas) conducted a webinar “Research Talk Series”, presenting Prof. Gerhard Fortwengel (MID Hochschule Hannover, German) discussing “Clinical Trial and Good Clinical Practice Implementation for Nursing”.
The event was established virtually using the Zoom Meeting application at 16.00 WITA on Thursday (16/6).
The Vice Dean for Academic, Research, and Innovation, Syahrul Said, S.Kep., Ns., M.Kes., Ph.D. expressed his gratitude for the willingness of the speakers to share knowledge and experience. This activity is a form of World Class University commitment.
“It is an honor for FKep Unhas to present international speakers. Topics related to improving the quality of research, namely opening up opportunities for health clinical experimental research. For this reason, it is hoped that it can become a place for joint discussion for the development of the scientific field, “explained Syahrul.
In his presentation, Prof. Gerhard Fortwengel explained good clinical trial guidelines in involving human participation as subjects. Good clinical practice applies international ethical and scientific quality standards in designing, conducting, recording, and reporting clinical trials that have involved the participation of human subjects by ensuring the credibility of trial data.
Prof. Gerhard explained that the rights, safety, and welfare of each subject are the most important considerations and must be prioritized, by providing non-clinical and clinical information that is scientifically sound and described in a clear and detailed protocol.
“Medical care for each subject is the responsibility of qualified health personnel, with clinical trial reporting ensuring that the data and results reported are reliable and accurate. The rights, integrity, and confidentiality of the test subjects can be protected. Ensure the credibility of clinical trial data,” explained Prof. Gerhard.
Prof. Gerhard Fortwengel has more than 20 years of experience involved in Clinical Research. Before becoming a professor at the University of Applied Science and Arts in Hannover in Germany, he worked in the pharmaceutical industry responsible for clinical research and quality assurance.
After the presentation of the material, the activity then continued with a discussion session with approximately 100 participants from lecturers and students of FKep Unhas. The activity went smoothly guided by A. Masyitha Irwan S.Kep., Ns., MAN, Ph.D. (FKep Unhas Lecturer) as moderator.
