UNHAS Vocational Faculty Holds International Seminar on the Innovative Role of Applied Bachelor of Dental Therapy

The Applied Bachelor of Dental Therapy Study Program, Faculty of Vocational Studies, Hasanuddin University, organized an international seminar themed “Enhancing the Role of Dental Therapist in the Era of Innovation and Technology.” The event took place at the Scientific Meeting Hall, Vocational Faculty, on Friday (September 26).

The seminar was officially opened by the Vice Dean for Academic and Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. Ida Leida. In her remarks, Prof. Ida highlighted the importance of this seminar as a platform to enhance knowledge, skills, and innovation for dental therapists by drawing on international perspectives.

Prof. Ida also expressed her hope that this event would strengthen national and international collaborations among students, educators, and practitioners. The organizing committee chair, Nur Aedah AR, S.Tr.Kes., M.KG., delivered the activity report, followed by a speech from the Head of Study Program, Drg. Zilal Islamy Paramma, Sp.Ort., Subsp.DDTK(K).

In the first session, the seminar featured two international speakers: Ms. Fatimah Rahman, who presented “The Role of Dental Therapist in Global Oral Health,” and Ms. Jeevaretnam A/P Sockalingam, who spoke on “The Challenge of Dental Therapist Career Abroad.” The session was moderated by Muh. Firdaus Tullah, S.Tr.Kes., M.Tr.TGM.

The second session presented national speakers: Dr. Bambang Sutomo, with the topic “National Policy and the Strategic Role of the Collegium in Ensuring the Quality of Higher Health Education,” and Yonan Heriyanto, with the topic “Head of Indonesian Dental Health Institution in Higher Education.” The session was moderated by Ainun Ayu Yuniar. Through this event, the Faculty of Vocational Studies at Hasanuddin University hopes to generate breakthroughs in strengthening the role of applied bachelor graduates in dental therapy, while also paving the way for greater contributions of dental therapists on the global stage.

The seminar, held in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, was attended by 408 online participants and 232 onsite participants, consisting of dental and oral therapy practitioners, lecturers, and students from various regions.
