Universitas Hasanuddin and AMINEF Held Presentation of Global Undergraduate and Exchange Program Scholarship

Universitas Hasanuddin, through the Directorate of Education in collaboration with the American Indonesian Exchange Foundation (AMINEF), held the scholarship socialization of the Global Undergraduate and Exchange Program (Global Ugrad). The event was conducted online using the Zoom Meeting application at 09.00 WITA, Monday (06/12).

The Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Unhas, Prof. Dr. Ir. Moh. Restu, MP officially opened the event. In his remarks, he said that the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology had issued a policy to provide facilities for students to study at home and abroad. Unhas had succeeded in participating in one program linear to the policy called the International Student Mobility Awards (IISMA) program by sending 14 students who passed to compete with the other students from all over universities in Indonesia.

“We again, through this event, provide students with such great facilities to attain scholarship information. Thus, we hope that all study programs in Unhas can also provide the same facilities to encourage students to prepare themselves to apply for Scholarships,” explained Prof. Restu.

This socialization presented Nita Kurminasari, Ph.D. (Lecturer of FIKP Unhas) and Miftahul Mardiyah (representative from Jakarta) as speakers, guided by the Director of Education, Dr. Ida Leida M., SKM., M.KM., M.ScPH.

Miftahul Mardiyah explained that Global Ugrad is an exchange program for Indonesian students who study bachelor (s1) and diploma 1 (D1) programs at domestic universities in the third or fifth semester.

The Scholarship awardees will have a valuable experience by attending lectures in the universities in the United States for one semester with their respective courses.

“The awardees are required to take one course of 3 credits to increase their understanding of the United States through classroom lectures and leadership workshops. Some of the facilities provided are round-trip domestic plane tickets, accommodation, education fees and health insurance,” explained Miftahul.

On the same occasion, FIKP Lecturer of Unhas, Nita Kurminasari, Ph.D., Global Ugrad, shared tips and tricks to get scholarships from abroad. She also explained the advantages of attending lectures abroad, such as expanding international networking, having the opportunity to know and learn about the culture of the local community, and enhancing great career opportunities after graduation.

“To get all of that, of course, we need well preparation to prepare the required documents. Besides, we are required to have prior knowledge of the university and study program that we are heading to, one of which is related to the requirements of the scholarship provider,” added Nita Kurminasari, PhD.
Furthermore, she said that English language skills are highly mandatory as a provision to adapt to the environment and make it easier to attend the learning process.
