Universitas Hasanuddin Receives Program Funding for Entrepreneurial Development from the Ministry of Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprises

Universitas Hasanuddin (Unhas), through the Science Techno Park (STP) Entrepreneurship and Business Development Unit Incubator, received Funding for the Incubator Entrepreneurial Development Program from the Ministry of Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprises (Kemenkop UKM) of the Republic of Indonesia.

The Deputy symbolically handed over program funding for Entrepreneurship of the Kemenkop UKM (Ir. Sitti Azizah, MBA) to the Unhas STP Incubator (Dr. Ir. Mardiana E. Fachry, M.Sc.,). The handover ceremony was attended by the Rector of Unhas (Prof. Dr. Dwia Aries Tina Pulubuhu, MA) and the Vice-Rector for Research, Innovation, and Partnerships (Prof. dr. Muh. Nasrum Massi, Ph.D., Sp.MK). The activity took place at Meeting Room A, 4th Floor of the Unhas Rectorate Building on Thursday (02/12) (under the Covid-19 health protocol)
The Head of the Unhas STP Incubator, Dr. Ir. Mardiana E. Fachry, M.Sc., expressed gratitude for the opportunity given to Universitas Hasanuddin to become one of the universities that received funding for entrepreneurship programs among five other higher education institutions.

In his report, he explained that various activities had been previously carried out through the incubation process to seek coaching, mentoring, and developing campus entrepreneurship programs related to the direction and assistance of business products to expand the reach of business marketing.

“We made various efforts to incubate ten Start-Ups that have received business legal documents, one of which is in the product packaging development strategy as an effort to build a brand that has been carried out in collaboration with a packaging centre in Bandung. So it is hoped that the resulting product can attract more consumers’ attention,” explained Dr. Ir. Mardiana.

On the same occasion, the Chancellor of Unhas, Prof. Dr. Dwia Aries Tina Pulubuhu, MA., expressed high appreciation for the presence of the Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs as a form of serious attention to Unhas Incubators, especially young entrepreneurs. The collaboration is expected to produce a business incubator work plan useful for business pioneers, especially among Unhas students.

“To increase entrepreneurship at Unhas, we have established a learning curriculum to enrich and motivate students to become young entrepreneurs. All major activities and innovations of students will be facilitated in one centre of excellence, namely at the Science Techno Park (STP) as the Center of Excellence, Microfinance Building,” explained Prof. Dwia.

Deputy for Entrepreneurship of Kemenkop UKM, Ir. Sitti Azizah, MBA., gave her speech directly by sharing her personal story as an entrepreneur. He said it is complicated to persist in implementing sales strategies and innovations in the current pandemic conditions. The pandemic has demanded business actors to change their mindset and way of using and utilizing technology.

“I understand what it’s like to be an entrepreneur, especially during a pandemic like now. Therefore, collaboration with technology business incubator institutions is urgently needed to get assistance in accelerating business development and business success in accordance with the laws and regulations,” explained Ir. Sitti Azizah.

Thus, it is hoped that the strengthening of business actors can support and achieve the National Economic Recovery (Pemulihan Ekonomi Nasional or PEN) policy strategy and impact the community’s prosperity.  The activity continued with a presentation session of ten innovative products by Unhas students. The names of the Unhas Start-ups for the Entrepreneurial Incubation Facilitation program at the Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs that obtained the Business Legal documents, namely:

10. PT. Resik Maksimal Indonesia.
