A delegation of 9 people from Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) visited the Department of Civil Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Hasanuddin. Associate Prof. Dr. Mohd. Remy Rozainy and Mohd. Arif Zainol led The delegation. They were welcomed at the Meeting Room of the Department of Civil Engineering Unhas, Gowa Campus, on Tuesday (18/02).
Dean of the Faculty of Engineering Unhas, Prof. Dr. Ir. A. Muhammad Arsyad Thaha, MT., started the meeting with a presentation on the Faculty of Engineering Unhas. He said that the Faculty of Engineering Unhas continued to encourage a competitive academic system by providing facilities and infrastructure. Prof. Arsyad also explained the research roadmap of the Faculty of Engineering, which is the basis of ongoing research.
“We strive always to improve, to provide an educational atmosphere that suits the needs of employment. Our lecturers are very active in research activities. We follow the roadmap so that everything can run synergistically,” explained Prof. Arsyad.
Prof. Dr. H. Wihardi Sironge, as the Chairman of the Civil Engineering Department of Unhas, welcomed the USM delegation’s arrival. According to him, Unhas can use this visit to share knowledge and ideas and open opportunities for collaboration.
After listening to the introduction of the Faculty of Engineering in general and the Department of Civil Engineering in particular, the 9 USM delegates enthusiastically responded to opportunities for collaboration, especially in the field of research. Laboratory facilities and infrastructure owned by the Faculty of Engineering strongly support the need for advanced research. Through this visit, USM hoped that there would be a collaboration agreement.
There were some recommendations for future collaboration during the visit, such as lecturer and student exchange programs, holding international conferences or collaborative writing, papers, and other forms of cooperation. (*)
