Background of the execution of SBMPTN as in the official page of SBMPTN is: based on Law Number 12 of 2012 on Higher Education, juncto the Government Regulation No. 4 of 2014 on the Implementation of Higher Education and Management of Higher Education, juncto the Regulation of the Minister of Research, Technology and Higher Education Number 2 of 2015 concerning new admissions undergraduate program at the state university, as amended by Regulation of the Minister of Research, Technology and Higher Education No. 45 of 2015 on the amendment of Permenristekdikti Number 2 of 2015 on new admissions undergraduate program at the state university, the new admissions pattern of undergraduate program conducted through: the National Selection of Entrance of State Universities (SNMPTN), the Joint Selection of Entrance of State Universities (SBMPTN), and the independent selection. SBMPTN 2016 is the selection made by PTN together under the coordination of the central committee with the selection based on the results of the written examination in the form of print (Paper Based Testing) or using a computer (Computer Based Testing), or combination of the results of the written test and the skill test of prospective students.
The organizing financing of SBMPTN charged to the selection participants and the Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education. Participants of SBMPTN from economically disadvantaged families and have high academic achievement can follow SBMPTN without being charged but financed through tuition assistance fund Bidikmisi.

Background
Selection together in new admissions in PTN environment through the written exam by national that had been done showing the various benefits and excellence, both for the participants, PTN, as well as for the national interest. For participants, the selection together is advantageous because it is more efficient, cheaper, and flexible. This is due to the mechanism of cross-region.
Based on the experience in implementing SBMPTN, that is the selection of new admissions through a written examination or combination of the results of written test and skill test, then in 2016 the Assembly Rector of State University of Indonesia (MRPTNI) implement written test consisting of Paper-Based Testing (PBT) and Computer-Based Testing (CBT), which can be followed by student graduates in 2014, 2015 and 2016 from secondary education (SMA/MA/SMK) and equivalent, including package C.
Written test consisting of PBT and CBT using the exam questions are designed to follow the norm of the academic of development test. Written test of SBMPTN are designed to measure basic ability which can be predict the success of prospective students in all program, namely the ability of reasoning in high level (higher order thinking), which includes academic potential, mastery of basic studies, science and technology (Saintek) and/or social and humanities (SosHum). In addition following the written test (PBT or CBT), participants who choose study program Arts and/or Sport required to take the skill test.
Purpose
Purpose of SNMPTN are as follows:
1. Selecting the prospective students who are predicted be able to complete the study in the college well.
2. Provide the opportunities for the prospective students to select more than one PTN cross the region.
General Terms and Requirements
1. General requirements
o SBMPTN 2016 is a selection that implemented together by PTN under the coordination of the Central Committee with the selection based on the results of the written examination in the form of print (PBT) or using a computer (CBT), or a combination of the results of written test and the skill test of prospective students.
2. Requirements:
a. Registration :
1. For a student who graduate in 2014 and 2015 should already have a diploma.
2. For a student who graduate in 2016 has had a Certificate of Graduation of Secondary Education, at least accommodate the identity information and a recent photograph as well as a valid stamp.
3. Have an adequate health so it does not interfere with the smooth process of learning in its study program.
b. Admission:
1. Pass the secondary education, graduating in SBMPTN 2016, healthy, and fulfilling other requirements specified by each of PTN receiver.
Registration
1. Registration is done by online, and register procedure are complete at the page http: //pendaftaran.sbmptn.ac.id.
2. The procedures for filling the registration form of written test and skill can be downloaded (download) from the page http: //download.sbmptn.ac.id. began April 18, 2016.
3. Online registration Paper Based Testing (PBT) and Computer Based Testing (CBT) is opened from the date of April 25th, 2016, at 08.00 until May 20th, 2016 at 22:00 pm.
Type of Exam
1. Written Test (PBT or CBT)
2. Materials Written Exam consists of:
a. Ability Test and Academic Potential (TKPA).
b. Basic Ability Test of Science and Technology (TKD Saintek) consists of eye test Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.
c. Basic Ability Test of Social and Humanities (TKD Soshum) consists of eye test Sociology, History, Geography, and Economics.
Skill Test
Provision of skill test as follows :
a. Skill test is intended for enthusiasts of the study program of Arts and Sports Science.
b. Skill test for the field of Art Science consists of tests of knowledge and skills related to the field of Arts.
c. Skill test for the field Sports Science consists of medical examinations and tests of motor skills.
d. Skill test can be followed at the nearby PTN which has study program that corresponds to the participants choice. List of PTN of the exam organizers the skills test can be found complete on the page http://www.sbmptn.ac.id.
Exam group
Group of SBMPTN exam divided into 3 (three), namely:
1. Exam group of Saintek with exam materials TKPA and TKD Saintek.
2. Exam group of Soshum with exam materials TKPA and TKD Soshum.
3. Mix exam group with exam materials TKPA, TKD Saintek, and TKD Soshum.
Each participant can follow the exam group Saintek, Soshum, or a mix.
Especially for the CBT participants are only allowed to follow the exam group Saintek or exam group Soshum.
Group of Study Program and Number of Options
1. Study program in PTN is divided into two groups, namely the Saintek group and Soshum group.
2. Participants can choose study program as much as 3 (three) study program with the following provisions:
a. If the study program that chosen all from Saintek group, then the participants follow the test group of Saintek.
b. If the study program that chosen all from Soshum group, then the participants follow the test group of Soshum.
c. If the selected program of study consists of a group Saintek and Soshum, then the participants follow the mixed exam group.
3. The order of the election of study program stated priority of choice.
4. Examinees who only choose 1 (one) study program can choose study program at any PTN.
5. Examinees who choose two (2) or more study program, one elective study program must be in PTN which is in a registration area where participants take the exams. Choice of another study program at PTN in outside of the registration area where the participants take the exams.

Selection Cost of the Written Test and Skills
1. Costs selection incurred by the participants is Rp. 200,000.00 (two hundred thousand rupiahs).
2. Selection fee can be paid by one of the following banks: Bank Mandiri or Bank BNI.
3. The cost of selection that has been paid can not be withdrawn for any reason.
Exam Schedule
1. Written Test Schedule
o Written exam is good for Paper-Based Testing (PBT) and Computer-Based Testing (CBT) carried out simultaneously on May 31, 2016.
2. Skill Test Schedule
o Skill Test held on Wednesday and/or Thursday, the 1st and/or June 2nd, 2016.

The exam results will be announced on Tuesday, June 28, 2016, starting at 17:00 pm and can be accessed on the page http://www.sbmptn.ac.id.
Participants Applicants of Bidikmisi Program
1. The Prospective participants of Bidikmisi receiver must first learn the registration procedure of Bidikmisi program through the page: http: //belmawa.ristekdikti.go.id/bidikmisi.
2. The Prospective participants of Bidikmisi receiver must first register to http://belmawa.ristekdikti.go.id/bidikmisi page.
3. The Prospective participants of Bidikmisi receiver who have passed through SNMPTN 2016 but intends to register SBMPTN 2016, the applicants must register SBMPTN 2016 through http://pendaftaran.sbmptn.ac.id using KAP and PIN are obtained from the system Bidikmisi Kemristekdikti to print a payment slip to cover the costs of the selection of SBMPTN 2016 to the Bank Mandiri or Bank BNI.
4. The Prospective participants of Bidikmisi receiver who otherwise not received through SNMPTN 2016 can use KAP and PIN that owned to register SBMPTN 2016 without having to pay the cost of selection.
