The SDGs Leadership Program was launched by SDG Academy Indonesia in collaboration with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), the National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas), and the Tanoto Foundation. The theme is “Developing the Capacity of Future Leaders for the SDGs”.

This first batch was attended by 33 participants from the government sector, academia, community organizations, philanthropy, and businessman—the program functions as capacity building program to accelerate the achievement of the SDGs.

On the occasion of the interview on Monday (26/07), Dr. Nursinah Amir, S.Pi, MP. said that Unhas could contribute to the SDGs Leadership Program because of the invitation given by the SDGs Academy organizers. Unhas was required to recommend one lecturer and academic staff from each university.

“Unhas then suggests three names for the programs. It was me representing the lecturer and two employees from the education staff. But then only I received an invitation from the organizers to take part in this program,” said Nursinah.

This program included SDGs leadership and governance modules, SDGs specific knowledge according to interest, by following a face-to-face, blended learning process held every five months.

“The SDGs Academy conducted the workshops five times; each workshop was held for 2-3 days from March to July. The third workshop in May and the fourth workshop in June for two days. In the workshop, participants received a lot of material on the SDGs,” explained Dr. Nursina.

Materials include leadership and management, SDGs financing innovation, risk management, problem identification, root cause analysis, design thinking, innovation square, sustainable business model canvas, partnership and collaboration of 101 SDGs, etc.

Dr. Nursinah Amir, S.Pi, MP displayed The final project (capstone project) entitled Improving the Quality of Products Made from Fishery Products. The project is constructed in a sustainable business model canvas, targeting a fishery product processing group in Makassar City.

“The output of this program is that the processing group can produce quality, competitive fish-based products and fish waste products. The products are packaged using environmentally friendly materials,” explained Dr. Nursina.

After completing the SDGs leadership program, Dr. Nursinah will apply the project to improve the quality of standardized and competitive fishery products.
