A National Accreditation Committee field evaluation (KAN) is being done again at the Science Research and Development Laboratory (LPPS) at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA).
Thursday, September 29, at 8:00 WITA, the ISO/IEC 17025:2018 field assessment process began at the Science Building, FMipa Unhas, Tamalanrea Campus in Makassar. This was part of the process to expand the scope of the accreditation.
Renawati, Santi Ambarwati, Lukman, Dr. dr. Tati Ariyanti, M.P., and Herbet Erwin Freddy Manurung are there as assessors until Friday, September 30.
The Dean of FMIPA Unhas, Dr. Eng. Amiruddin, M.Sc., stated at the beginning of the activity that the LPPS had previously met the ISO 17025 standard. In order to improve study outcomes, however, an additional scope that could be examined in the laboratory was created. Therefore, it is necessary to reevaluate the field assessment procedure in order to evaluate the process of adding ISO 17025 accreditation to the LPPS scope.
During the same event, the Vice Chancellor for Academic and Student Affairs at Unhas, Prof. drg. Muhammad Ruslin, M.Kes., Ph.D., SpBM(K), lauded FMIPA’s efforts to enhance the quality of education, one of which was the expansion of the LPPS’s scope in accordance with ISO 17025:2017.
According to Professor Ruslin, FMIPA pays close attention to the development of laboratories as learning tools and the advancement of the academic community’s and students’ knowledge. He said that, in general, the Unhas leadership fully supported the many strategic initiatives taken by work units, like faculties, to provide standardized learning facilities and to keep improving and updating them.
“The prior LPPS FMIPA satisfied ISO 17025 requirements. Obviously, this needs to be investigated further. With the availability of a standardized laboratory with ample research space, we anticipate the emergence of remarkable scientists who will have a significant impact not just on universities but on the world. for the nation and state, though. Hopefully, the evaluation process will run smoothly, and the results will meet all expectations, “elucidated Professor Rustin.
After the opening, the assessor team will begin with the evaluation procedure. This action is scheduled to continue till tomorrow, Friday. The assessors had previously presented the FMIPA academic community with an overview of the evaluation procedure to be carried out. (*/mir)
