The Rector of Hasanuddin University (UNHAS), Prof. Dr. Ir. Jamaluddin Jompa, M.Sc. (Prof. JJ), welcomed a visit from a team of researchers from St. Andrews University and Dundee University, Scotland, UK. The visit aims to strengthen friendships and discuss research collaboration with the Department of Ophthalmology and the Department of Internal Medicine at the Faculty of Medicine (FK). The visit took place in the UNHAS Rector’s Office, 8th Floor of the Rectorate Building, Tamalanrea Campus, Makassar, on Tuesday, January 24, 2023.
The members of the research team included John Ellis, MD, MPH, Ph.D., frcoPHTH (Dundee University, Scotland, UK) and Obaid Kousha, MD (St. Andrews University, Scotland, UK). The Head of the Department of Ophthalmology and several researchers from FK UNHAS were also present at the meeting.
On this occasion, Prof. JJ said, in general, research collaboration with various universities is needed to strengthen and deepen the resulting innovation products, he hopes that this relationship can last a long time and provide benefits to UNHAS, St. Andrews University and Dundee University.
“Hopefully the research carried out will run smoothly and benefit the community. UNHAS is happy to provide the necessary support and assistance to optimize the research carried out,” explained Prof. JJ.
In general, the implementation of collaborative research with the Department of Ophthalmology and the Department of Internal Medicine at the Faculty of Medicine took place from January 16 to February 5, 2023, which was carried out at the UNHAS Hospital. The development of ophthalmology is the main focus of discussion during the visit.
