Faculty of Dentistry of Universitas Hasanuddin (FKG Unhas) and Faculty of Dentistry of Universitas Airlangga (FKG Unair) held the second series of the joint seminar “Stovit Online Series” through the zoom meeting application, Saturday (20/03). This seminar presented a prosthodontist from the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA), Dr. Cortino Sukotjo, DDS., Ph.D., MMSc. He delivered a topic entitled “CAD-CAM in Dentistry”.
Prosthodontics is a dentistry study that focuses on rehabilitation and maintenance of oral function, comfort, appearance, and dental health. The method is the manufacture of natural tooth restorations or replacement of missing teeth with artificial replacement materials.
Dean of FKG Unhas, drg. Muhammad Ruslin, M.Kes., Ph.D., Sp.BM (K) said that the second series of activities was a continuation of the previous series, with more varied themes and expert speakers in their fields.
“Dr. Cartino is an alumnus of Universitas Padjadjaran who continued his study at UCLA in Oral Biology, and Harvard School of Dental Medicine in the field of Prosthodontics,” said drg. Ruslin.
Furthermore, drg. Ruslin said that Dr. Cartino is also a Diplomate of the American Board Certified Prosthodontics, a fellow with the American College of Prosthodontists (ACP), and a fellow of the Association of the Prosthodontic Academy. Moreover, he is a member of the ADEA Education Research and Analysis Committee’s Center for Policy, ADEA Foundation / William J. Gies.
“In August 2019, Dr. Cortino, for the first time, visited Makassar to give a guest lecture. With the Rector’s approval, FKG Unhas accepted Dr. Cortino as adjunct Professor,” explained drg. Ruslin.
In this second seminar series, besides Dr. Cortino, there were also two other speakers, each from FKG Unair and FKG Unhas. The two speakers specifically discussed scientific publications, which are the needs of students and lecturers.
Dr. Dian Agustin W, drg., Sp.KG (K) from Unair presented a material entitled “The Role of Publication Center as a Facility for Successful Students to Study Dentistry”. Meanwhile, drg. Acing Habibie Mude, Ph.D., Sp.Pros from FKG Unhas delivered the topic of “Choosing an International Reputable Scientific Journal for Publication”.
The activity ran smoothly for approximately three hours, attended by hundreds of participants moderated by Israyani, drg., Sp.PM (Department of Oral Medicine, FKG Unhas).
