Faculty of Animal Husbandry of Unhas and Three Universities from Japan (Kobe University, Hiroshima University, and Tokyo University) collaborated on research related to livestock development in South Sulawesi. Three representatives from each university, Prof. Hideyuki Mannen (Kobe University), Prof. Yoshio Yamamoto (Hiroshima University), and Yukimizu Takahashi (Tokyo University of Agriculture) visited Faculty of Animal Husbandry of Hasanuddin University, Friday (09/20).
The three Professors were welcomed by the Dean of Faculty of Animal Husbandry, Prof. Dr. Ir. Lellah Rahim.
Prof Lellah, the Dean of Faculty of Animal Husbandry, explained that the three professors are interested in investigating some species of local livestock in South Sulawesi. Local livestock such as, local cattle and buffalo in South Sulawesi attract the attention of professors.
“There are several regencies that they will visit, such as Tana Toraja, Sidrap, Wajo, Pangkep, and Enrekang. In Enrekang they will visit the Maiwa Breeding Center of Unhas. They want to study the genetic factors of local livestock,” explained Prof Lellah.
Prof Lellah added that the research result will be a scientific article written together with lecturers of Unhas. Hopefully, it can be published as a reputable journal, so that it has an impact on the productivity of the Faculty of Animal Husbandry in producing articles in reputable journals.
“This research will be conduct by one of our laboratories, Genetics and Integrated Laboratory. The more collaboration like this, the more impact on increasing scopus indexed journals produced by the Faculty of Animal Husbandry. Especially if you get adequate citations," added Prof. Lellah.
Previously, at around 9.30 WITA, a group of professors and students was welcomed by the Vice-Chancellor for Academic Affairs, Prof. Dr. Ir. Muhammad Restu, MP in his office. (*)
