Universitas Hasanuddin through Faculty of Dentistry collaborated with Toyama University Japan to establish a guest lecture. Three speakers from Toyama University were invited to this guest lecture, namely, Prof. Makoto Noguchi DDS., Ph.D., Assoc. Professor Kumiko Fujiwara DDS., Ph.D., and Assoc. Professor Kiyoshi Shakunaga MD., Ph.D. The guest lecture took place at Molar Room, Faculty of Dentistry, Unhas Tamalanrea Campus, Makassar, on Wednesday (06/11)
Dean of FKG Unhas, drg. Muhammad Ruslin, M. Kes., Ph. D., Sp. BM (K)., he in his remark explained that this kind of activity became one of the facilities that could be used by students to obtain learning resources besides the regular lecture activities.
"This is one way to improve students' understanding of knowledge and information. Therefore, education information is always updated. This effective learning space is very useful if maximized properly," explained Ruslin.
The guest lecture started with a topic of “Three-dimensional analysis of facial surface asymmetry in cleft lip and palate" delivered by Assoc. Professor Kumiko Fujiwara DDS., Ph.D. (Department of Oral Surgery, Toyama University, Japan). In his lecture, he described about research conducted using 3D analysis of facial surfaces in CLP patients using the straight-line technique.
On the same occasion, Prof. Makoto Noguchi DDS., Ph.D. (Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Toyama University, Japan) explained the topic of "Oral Cancer: Diagnosis and Management". In his explanation, he gave an overview from the causes of oral cancer, to how to treat patients.
"Proper diagnosis to the patient will be very helpful for further treatment. Therefore, careful and good management is needed to determine the patient's condition," explained Prof. Makoto.
The guest lecture was closed with material presented by Assoc Professor Kiyoshi Shakunaga MD., Ph.D. (Department of Oral Surgery, Toyama University, Japan) who explained "Pediatric Anesthesia: Recent Advancement and Issue".
The activity which was attended approximately 100 participants from students, residents and lecturers continued until 12.00 WITA. (*)
