The Vice-Rector officially opened the activity for Research, Innovation, and Partnerships, Prof. dr. Moh. After the opening, it was then proceeded with the material presentation of Dr. Asis Sodhi on Innovations in Aesthetic Composite Systems: A Restorative Update.

In his material, Dr. Asis explained the anatomy of enamel and dentin. All teeth, although different in shape, share the same anatomy. Apart from having a particular function, each tooth has a specific location and condition that aids its function.

“Enamel is a substance that covers the tooth’s anatomical crown, which is the hardest substance in the body and translucent. Enamel has a size consisting of 96% minerals, 1% protein/lipid, 3% water, and has a volume of 85% minerals, 3 % protein/lipid, and 12% water,” explained Dr. assist.

Dentin is a complex and light yellow porous layer of tissue located beneath the enamel and cementum. Dentin is the most significant part of the tooth and consists of roughly 70% mineral, 20% organic/collagen, and 10% water; and has a volume of 47% mineral, 33% organic/collagen, and 20% water.

As coming to an end, the Dean of FKG Unhas drg. Muhammad Ruslin, M.Kes., Ph.D., Sp.BM(K) said that despite the pandemic situation, FKG Unhas still manages to optimize the effort to keep conducting the various work programs that have been planned. It is significantly expected that holding this such activity could be an excellent opportunity to share knowledge and information in developing the aspect of quality, particularly for both FKG students and Unhas in general.

The symposium was guided by drg. Noor Hikmah, Sp.KG (K) as the moderator. Approximately 100 participants attended it, and it ran smoothly until 12.00 WITA.
