Hasanuddin University (Unhas) and the National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas) held a meeting in order to discuss the role and involvement of the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) Center in strengthening the vision and mission of Indonesia 2045. The activity took place at 14.00 Wita offline in Meeting Room A, 4th Floor of the Unhas Rectorate Building, Tamalanrea Campus, Makassar, on Thursday (06/10).

Yanuar Nugroho, Ph.D. (Expert Staff of SDG’s Bappenas) was also present to represent Bappenas. Representatives from Unhas included the Vice Rector for Partnership, Innovation, Entrepreneurship, and Business (Prof. Dr. Eng. Adi Maulana, S.T., M.Phil), the Head of SDG’s Center Unhas (Drs. Muhammad Yusri Zamhuri, MA., Ph.D.), the Head and Secretary of the Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM), the head of the research and development center, and SDGs coordinators from Unhas.

At the beginning of the activity, Prof. Adi explained that the SDGs center at Unhas was inaugurated in 2019 by the Minister of National Development Planning. Meanwhile, the SDGs center is a center for developing SDGs in Eastern Indonesia to assist government programs. Prof. Adi added that, in general, Unhas continues to maximize its role and contribution in encouraging a golden Indonesia 2045.

“Various strategic efforts and involvement of Unhas continue to be maximized so that the presence of the SDGs center in Unhas can provide more benefits to the community. Under the current new leadership, various strategic policies were issued, one of which was the presence of various research and development centers, which are currently integrated under LPPM Unhas,” explained Prof. Adi.

On the same occasion, Yanuar Nugroho conveyed the important position of SDGs as the direction of Indonesia’s development. According to him, university involvement is needed to encourage various Indonesian efforts towards the golden age of 2045. For this reason, he hopes that the Unhas SDGs center can contribute optimally through strategic programs. In addition, Yanuar also provided an overview of government involvement in achieving the SDGs.

After the remarks, the discussion session began. The meeting participants gave an overview of the condition of Unhas in various activities in line with the 17 points in the SDGs. They also talked about the problems that the academic community of Unhas faces in trying to reach the SDGs. They did this in the hopes of hearing back from Bappenas.

The whole series of activities went smoothly. The meeting was scheduled to end at 17.00 Wita.
