Publication Management Center (PMC) targetting Hasanuddin University can entry the top six in the national rankings. PMC administrator that newly appointed four days ago it began to hold a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) together with the Vice Rector for Planning, Development and Cooperation, Prof. Dr. dr. Budu Ph.D. Sp.M (K) M.Med. Ed. as well as the dean and director of the graduate program Hasanuddin University,on Wednesday (23/3).
According to the list of 11 best universities in Indonesia issued by the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher of Education, Hasanuddin University ranking eleventh with a number of 2,978 points. Meanwhile, according to the ranking agencies of the best universities in the world Four International Colleges & Universities, Hasanuddin University is ranked 21st nationally. It is a concern so that PMC was formed to encourage research publications Hasanuddin University, both in print and electronic.
"We are targeting at least Hasanuddin University will be able to enter the top six nationally," said Head of the PMC, Dr.Ir. Imam of Mujahidin Fahmid.
To achieve these numbers, PMC is targeting every faculty able to publish one or two journals each year. PMC will also help in increasing the production of manuscripts and articles that can be published in international journals.
Potency that targeted by PMC at the beginning of this work is in four sectors, namely an increase in production of scientific work at the lecturers level, doctoral program student, researcher within the scope LP2M, or the management of journal per faculty who had walked.
Noted, Hasanuddin University has about 1,800 of lecturers, 400 doctoral program students and 600 research titles in LP2M. PMC optimistic that the increase of ranking will increase if 20 to 30 percent among these resources can be productive.
"Imagine if 30% of existing resources can be included in Scopus (data centers in the world scientific literature, ed.), this could be a big leap that will be very good for Hasanuddin University," said Imam.
Chairman of the Advisor of PMC, Prof. Dr. Saleh S.Ali, MSc., suggest to doing the Open Journal System where articles, manuscripts and journals produced by Hasanuddin University researchers that can be accessed via electronic media. He also suggested to provide guidance to some manuscripts that have potential for inclusion in Scopus.
"We should be output oriented because higher education without research is meaningless and research without publication of is tantamount to research that has not finished," said the professor who is also the manager of the International Journal of Agriculture System (IJAS).
Imam explained, immediately to conducted a workshop how to write articles or manuscripts for Hasanuddin University researchers and journal management workshop via electronic media to the faculties. (DNA-PR)
