Prof. Dr. drg. Baharuddin Thalib, M.Kes., Sp.Pros (K), a Professor in the Faculty of Dentistry, has been chosen Chair of the Academic Senate of Hasanuddin University for 2022–2026. This is in agreement with the results of the vote of 79 senators at the plenary meeting held on the Tamalanrea Campus in Makassar on September 30 at 10:00 WITA in the Senate Room on the second floor of the Rectorate Building.
Prof. Dr. drg. Baharuddin Thalib, M.Kes., Sp.Pros (K) (Professor of FKG), Prof. Dr. Ir. Yusran, S.Hut., M.Sc., IPU (Professor of the Faculty of Forestry), and Prof. Dr. Ir. H. Nasaruddin Salam, MT (Professor of the Faculty of Medicine) are the three candidates (Professor of the Faculty of Engineering). During the voting procedure, Prof. Baharuddin garnered as many as 46 votes from the current senate members.
Prof. Baharuddin expressed thanks for the support and mandate he was granted as the new Senate chair at that time. He described how the process of becoming a senate member began with participation in the selection process at the faculty level. He said that in order to reach the goals of the different roles of the academic senate, everyone needs to work together.
“We shall execute the assigned task to the best of our abilities. Obviously, with effective cooperation, all future endeavors will be carried out optimally. I believe that with the participation of all parties and good synergy in all Unhas work units, the outputs of work programs will be more in line with common expectations, “elucidated Professor Baharuddin.
Each candidate’s vision and purpose were previously described. During his time as academic senate president, Prof. Baharuddin will be accompanied by Prof. Dr. Ir. Budimawan, DEA., who was also directly elected during the plenary assembly and will serve as academic senate secretary.
The full series of Unhas academic senate plenary meetings proceeded well till 11:40 WITA. On the same day, a farewell agenda was conducted for both the outgoing and incoming senate chairs. This event occurred at 14.00 WITA in the Unhas Hotel and Convention Center, Tamalanrea Campus. (*/mir)
