Currently, the Postgraduate Program of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences at Hasanuddin University only provides Chemistry and Mathematics study programs. Physics Masters Program enthusiasts who come from the UNHAS Physics Undergraduate Program generally continue their education on the island of Java (ITB, ITS, UGM, and UI). The presence of the Hasanuddin University Physics Master Study Program provides an alternative for postgraduate program enthusiasts to deepen Science and Technology in the desired scientific fields and expertise. Study Program enthusiasts want an increase in scientific abilities and expertise after completing education in this master's program.

With the scientific abilities and expertise possessed by the graduates of the Master of Physics Study Program, there are opportunities to compete to fill vacancies in related institutions, such as State / Private Universities, Local Governments, Research Institutions, BUMN, and Private Industry. Data shows that most prospective applicants for this Master of Physics Study Program are already bound or working in an agency/institution, so they are not concerned about the distribution of graduates.
In the coming years, public interest is expected to continue to increase along with the increasing demand for graduates of Physics master's programs in both government and private institutions. In Indonesia, the need for physics master's program graduates is spread across several job fields, government agencies such as civil servants, private employees, and entrepreneurs.
Master of physics
Development of aspects of research skills (research expertise) that are applied in development activities for the welfare of society. That is why the specialization of this field emphasizes that the study program contributes significantly to National development. To support the optimization of research in materials, including the development of nanotechnology innovative materials for technology and health, ceramics, semiconductor materials, magnetic materials, and composite materials. Composite materials are lightweight and robust materials that can be applied in several fields, such as energy, defense, and transportation. In addition, magnetic materials have been developed focusing on phase change studies that utilize Monte Carlo simulations. This theoretical study is quite active in the Department of Physics UNHAS by utilizing high-performance computing facilities in the Department of Physics and in developed country research centers. Materials for the health sector include the development of artificial teeth and bones, the development of materials for radiation protection, and the development of instrumentation systems for technology and disease detection. In identifying the characteristics of nanotechnology and new energy intelligent materials, the role of the Master of Physics Study Program is essential.

Jalur JNS UTBK adalah salah satu jalur seleksi mandiri yang diselenggarakan oleh Universitas Hasanuddin untuk menjaring calon mahasiswa yang mempunyai prestasi akademik disamping kemampuan finansial. Penilaian terhadap peserta jalur JNS UTBK dilakukan berdasarkan skor nilai UTBK-SNBT dan satu nilai materi ujian yang diselenggarakan oleh Universitas Hasanuddin.

Jalur JNS Non UTBK adalah salah satu jalur seleksi mandiri yang diselenggarakan oleh Universitas Hasanuddin untuk menjaring calon mahasiswa yang mempunyai prestasi akademik disamping kemampuan finansial. Penilaian terhadap peserta jalur JNS Non UTBK dilakukan berdasarkan Nilai Ujian yang diselenggarakan oleh Universitas Hasanuddin (tanpa memperhitungkan Nilai UTBK).
