The Faculty of Medicine, Hasanuddin University (FK UNHAS), organized an international seminar and workshop entitled “Emerging Infectious Diseases and Bioinformatics.” The activity was established in collaboration with several partner universities at the Sjamsuddin Dg Mangawing Hall, Tamalanrea Campus, from Monday to Thursday (March 6–9, 2023).
The Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Prof. Dr. dr. Haerani Rasyid, M.Kes.,Sp.PD-KGH., Sp.GK(K) explained that, in general, this workshop aims to recognize outbreak populations such as malaria infection and acute febrile illness. In addition, she also discussed bioinformatics—the processing of data with its interpretation and implementation in research. The Dean hoped that this activity would become a space for discussion to increase the participants’ knowledge.
“FK UNHAS sustainably encourages the establishment of discussion spaces for the academic community to improve their quality. Furthermore, through activities that collaborate with FK UNHAS strategic partners, it is hoped that there will be scientific development for students. In the future, it will be useful for direct application to the community in terms of providing health services,” explained Prof. Haerani.
This event was divided into three sessions, including Bioinformatics Workshop Sessions, Population Genetics, and Research Design, attended by master’s and doctoral students, researchers, and medical personnel.
