Enrekang – Minister of Research, Technology and Higher of Education Prof. Dr. Mohamad Nasir visiting cage experiments (ranch) in the Faculty of Animal Husbandry Unhas Maiwa, at Enrekang, on Tuesday (23/2). During his visitation, Minister of Research, Technology and Higher of Education accompanied by the Rector of Unhas Prof. Dwia Aries Tina Pulubuhu, MA, Regent of Enrekang Drs. Muslims Bando, M.Pd and Mayor of Parepare Dr. Taufan Pawe, SH. "The Minister of Research, Technology and Higher of Education on his visits to Maiwa to see directly conditions the ranch of UNHAS in the field," said Dwia. Maiwa Ranch is one of field laboratory owned by Unhas besides educational forest in the village of Bengo-Bengo at district of Maros, ponds education at district of Barru and UNHAS Marine Station at Barrang Lompo Island in Makassar.
The Minister of Research, Technology and Higher of Education expects that the cage (ranch) education of Unhas continues to innovate in order to produce superior cattle. "The aim of the research was one of the outputs is to produce superior products that can be applied by the people, especially those living around this Unhas field laboratory," said M.Nasir.
Ranch which is a field laboratory is managed by the Faculty of Animal Husbandry while doing some excellent research, one of them is doing research to produce superior-quality meat products export. According to the Dean of the Faculty of Animal Science Prof.Dr. Sudirman B that the cage of education managed has successfully produce a cow product without horns. This is the real beginning of research that we have been done with successfully, because the cow without horn is actually doesn’t exist anywhere else in the world,” said Sudirman.
According to Sudirman, the research of cattle without horns to produce superior beef will be continued, because one of the advantages of cattle without horns is expected to produce high-quality beef. "The advantages of this beef could remain good due to avoid a collision horn," said Sudirman at the ranch that manages the area of 281 ha.
Next research, said Sudirman, will be developed to produce superior beef which we call Maiwa Beef. "Maiwa Beef is produced from beef without horns. By providing such treatment is expected Maiwa Beef meat quality can be approaching Kobe Beef from Japan which is a product of the best beef in the world, "said Dean of the Faculty of Animal Science.
