As part of their efforts to provide high-quality internet service, Hasanuddin University and PT. Telkom signed an agreement to work together to increase the data bandwidth capacity on campus.
The signing took place in the meeting room of the Vice Chancellor for Planning, Development, and Finance on the third floor of the Rectorate Building on the Tamalanrea Campus in Makassar.
In an interview on Thursday (29/9), Dr. eng. Ady Wahyudi Paundu, S.T., M.T., Director of Information Systems and Digital Transformation, indicated in an interview on Thursday (29/9) that the signing of the cooperation contract was part of the renewal of the prior partnership.
Unhas and Telkom have reached an agreement to expand the data bandwidth from 2Gb to 4Gb. This rising population typically slows down internet connections on the Unhas campus.
“After doing the analysis, it is anticipated that the required data bandwidth capacity reaches 6-8 GB daily at the same time. In addition, this is consistent with the Unhas digital transformation process, which must be supported in the future by the availability of an ever-more-optimal internet network. According to Dr. Ady, the expansion of Unhas’ data capacity will have a positive effect on a number of factors, including the company’s reputation.
Beginning on October 1, the data bandwidth of Unhas is expected to increase from 2Gb to 4Gb. This expansion will be looked at again in light of the available bandwidth to see if it needs Internet access.
Bandwidth is the capacity that may be utilized on an Ethernet cable so that a specific maximum amount of data packet traffic can be transmitted. This is evident from the consumption of data transfer, which is measured in bits per second (bps). In general, it refers to the maximum speed at which a communication line can send and receive data in seconds.
According to data from the Information Systems and Digital Transformation Division, internet usage on campus was highly busy between 08:00 and 16:00 WITA.
