The University of Rhode Island Wants to Collaborate with Universitas Hasanuddin

University of Rhode Island (URI) offered collaboration in the field of educational development, namely Blended Learning and Double Degree to Universitas Hasanuddin. The URI delegation, Mr. Brook Williams Rose, delivered the offer at Rector Office of Unhas on the 8th Floor of Rectorate Building, Tamalanrea Campus, Makassar, on Friday (06/03).

The Rector of Unhas (Prof. Dr. Dwia Aries Tina Pulubuhu, MA), the Vice-rector for Research, Innovation, and Partnership (Prof. dr. Muh. Nasrum Massi, Ph.D.), and the Director of Education (Dr. Ida Leida Maria, S.KM., M.KM) warmly welcomed the URI delegation.

On occasion, Mr. Brook Williams Rose introduce the University of Rhode Island, which offers 80 study programs for undergraduate, 49 study programs for the postgraduate, and doctoral degree. Some of the study programs include Arts and Science, Business, Education and Professional Studies, Engineering, Health Sciences, Environmental Sciences and Life, Nursing, and Pharmacy, which spread over eight major campuses in Kingston, Rhode Island, United States.

"We, University of Rhode Island, offer a Master's program in the field of Environmental Sciences and Management (MESM). Unhas students who are interested in this program will get a completion certificate and URI master's degree, which can be started in September 2021 and ends in May 2022," explained Mr. Brook.

Furthermore, Mr. Brook also explained that Unhas and URI had often engaged in special collaborative relationships in the field of Inbound Students and Research Collaborations.

As a response, Prof. Dr. Dwia Aries Tina Pulubuhu, MA., As the Rector of Hasanuddin University, said that this was an attractive offer for Universitas Hasanuddin, considering that Universitas Hasanuddin has an international class that requires many partners as a destination for students to study.

"We will consider to design the concept first, to determine the tuition fee, and to arrange the proposal. We are certainly open to collaboration like this because this encourages Unhas to get more partners. In consequence, our students will have various options to choose an oversea university to continue their studies," explained Prof. Dwia.

After giving an overview of the offered blended learning and double degree education programs, they proceed to a discussion session to synchronize perceptions related to the collaboration plan. The meeting between the URI and Unhas delegation ended at 17:00 West Indonesian Time. (*)
